Best of Show: “Hope” Mixed Media by Helene and Eric Bess

I chose “Hope” not only for its level of technical skill, but its message. The luminous eyes of the
child reflect a world of possibilities and potential for growth.

1st of Show: “Tale Of The Three Legged Pig” Pastel Drawing by Jan Jackson

This was chosen for its striking use of color and whimsical nature, telling a story in bold lines
reminiscent of a child’s dream or a tribal vision quest.

2nd of Show: “One Year Older” Mixed Media by Judi Wormeck

An excellent use of a monochromatic palette. This well composed mixed media piece evokes a
child of a “time long gone by,” utilizing texture scale and repetition to draw the viewer into the
little girl’s world.

3rd of Show: “Hide & Seek, Green Delight” Photography by Carol Thomas

With vibrant color and sharp focus, this well composed and presented photograph transports
the viewer directly into a summer game of hide and seek. “Come out, come out, wherever you
are!”

Award of Distinction: “Oh-Live-Alot-Bird of Paradise” Mixed Media Sculpture by Wendy Berg
Roth

A child’s fantasy come to life. A riot of color, multitude of textures and materials plant this
uninhibited piece squarely in the dictionary under “child-like whimsy”.
