Nicole’s Patchwork Opinion I did not receive one email or letter asking my opinion on a patchwork question this month so I have decided to tell you about a great product available to make your patchwork life easier. CLEAR GRIP The Product is called: Clear Grip is a product that is applied to our plastic rulers to prevent slipping whilst cutting with a rotary cutter. One packet of clear grip costs $9.95 and it will do many rulers including the longest ruler, the largest square and everything in between. We have done at least 6 rulers from one packet and can highly recommend this product. Available from the haberdashery stand at Heavenly Patchwork. If you would like a patchwork question answered in this section of YOUR newsletter then please email them to lisa@heavenlypatchwork.com.au YOUR CHANCE TO WIN… TO WIN… TO WIN… In The Heavenly Patchwork 12.5” BLOCK challenge In conjunction with the release of the National Breast Cancer Foundation Fundraising Activities and the National 12” Block Challenge where you have the opportunity to win a quilt worth $2500.00 as seen in Australian Homespun Magazine. We at Heavenly Patchwork want to encourage you to make 12” blocks to donate so that quilts can be made for further fundraising for Breast Cancer Cure Research. So we are having our own 12.5” Block Competition. The Rules are simple… 1. Make a 12.5” block using any method... machine piecing, appliqué, stitchery or a combination of all 3…. By DECEMBER 1st 2005 and you go into the running to win a quilt kit worth $115.00 donated by Heavenly Patchwork. It is our aim to send as many blocks as possible to the quest for a cure fundraising efforts. The block must be made from the ‘Annabella’ range of fabric found in store at Heavenly Patchwork - a beautiful range of fabric that you will love to work with— it has something to please everyone. 2. Check the Heavenly Patchwork website to see our blocks so far. Please join with us and start sewing now…. All entries will be eligible to win the prizes. Have you picked up your Tie from our Camp this year. We have been fortunate to have your ties to display in the shop since our July camp this year. We invite you to come in and pick up your tie as we have now dismantled that display and know you will all want to have yours back. Thank you for loaning them to us for the duration of our display. NICOLES VERDICT ON NEW RULERS…….. We have now had the new rulers available at Heavenly Patchwork for 4 months. We have sold many sets and have enjoyed using them ourselves. Lisa and I are in the process of making our own queensize quilts using the rulers and are enjoying the simplicity of this product. For years we have taught you how to make a traditional half square triangle with two squares—drawing a line—and sewing either side of the line—cutting on the line and then pressing. This old process is cut, draw, sew, cut and then press. The new rulers process is cut, sew and press. Therefore eliminating the 2nd use of the cutter from the equation and the drawing of so many lines before sewing a stitch. It has taken me a little while to embrace the rulers but I can and have seen many advantages emerging from the rulers and this month invested in my own set for home. The cost of the set with the book is still $70. Or each ruler singularly from $12.50. Please come in for a free demonstration anytime so Lisa and I can share with you the latest patchwork gadgetry. Heavenly Patchwork will be closed on Friday 23rd and will reopen in the New Year on Tuesday 10th January. All regular classes will resume on this day.
