Youth Music of the World is the foremost organiser of Performance Travel Programmes in the world. Working with its partner Destination Events, Youth Music of The World has created, and exclusively operates, some of Europe’s greatest events for International Musicians. Events in the Youth Music and Destination Events stable include its flagship spectacular ‘The New Year’s Day Parade and Festival in London’, - the foremost event of its kind in the world with an annual attendance in excess of a million people and a television audience of more than 220 million worldwide. Other events include ‘The Paris Parade Festival’, ‘La Grande Parade de Chantilly’, ‘Edinburgh’s Easter Festival’, and ‘Easter in Maastricht’. Over the last twenty years Youth Music has arranged superb Performance Tours for more than 250,000 young musicians from all over the world to its various European events. For several years we have been planning the creation of a major event in Rome. We do not take things lightly at Youth Music, and an enormous amount of preparatory work has to be done before a major event can be launched. It has taken nearly two years, but I am now quite delighted to announce two new splendid events in Italy that will take place for the first time over the New Year period 2007/2008. With the Patronage and full support of Sr. Walter Veltroni, Mayor of Rome, and the Cultural Director for the City of Rome, we are pleased to announce an event provisonally entitled ‘American Bands in Rome’ to take place on January 1st 2008. This event promises to be spectacular. It will not just consist of North American Bands, there will also be a matching number of musical participants from Italy and other European countries. The event will consist of the opportunity to present magnificent arena displays in the splendid Piazza del Popolo before processing along Via del Corso, and Via Condotti to the Piazza di Spagna, and then giving finale performances in one of Rome’s most feted locations, the Spanish Steps. The event will be a truly Roman Celebration of New Year’s Day. A second highlight will be the opportunity to perform in the newly created Street Show in Frascati. Frascati is a delightful town perched high in the hills above Rome adjacent to Castel Gandolfo the Papal summer residence. Frascati is world renowned for its wine production, but there is much more to this wonderful town. Here on the 31st of December will be a Street Show (Parade) featuring local musical groups and other acts along with specially invited international bands. The event is jointly created by the Town of Frascati and Youth Music of The World, and is, of course, under the Patronage of the Mayor of Frascati.

Page 2 of 16 (2) The two magnificent events are embellished by a brilliantly conceived cultural and touring programme which will immerse all participants in the deep and rich history of the eternal city of Rome, as well as visiting the Tuscan City of Florence the centre of Renaissance Art. As you would expect with Youth Music of The World the Performance Tour has been very carefully researched and prepared to mesh perfectly the cultural and touring opportunities with the all important performance opportunities. Our director of the Performance Tours in Rome is Ms. Ela Gurmen assisted by Mr. Alfredo Vernillo. Ela will be familiar to many of you, and is a byword for excellence in her organisation and operation of Touring Programmes for musical groups. The entire event is, of course, directed by our accomplished head office staff, and all of our representative offices have been fully and exhaustively educated in every conceivable aspect of the programme. During our preparations for the Launch of this magnificent venture in Rome we have organised and promoted a number of Performance Tours for groups in Italy to perfect our levels of service. In doing this we have promoted a considerable number of concerts in various venues in Rome, and other Cities in Italy with great success. Whilst we are principally seeking to invite substantial marching bands to the events in Rome and Frascati, should there be concert bands or orchestras, or even jazz bands within those marching bands, and should those ensemble wish to perform whilst in Italy, then we have some superb venues at which it would be possible for us to arrange individual or combined performances. To take part in Youth Music’s events in 2007/8 in Rome will be a truly memorable, once in a lifetime opportunity. I do urge you to look seriously at the materials in this pack, and then to contact one of our Representatives as soon as possible. If you have an interest we should want to put your name forward for consideration for invitation at the earliest possible time. Yours sincerely,

Robert Bone

In the morning depart your hotel by luxury coach and with your own professional English speaking guide on a spectacular full day tour of ROME and the VATICAN CITY. For the past two thousand years, Rome has been one of the most important and influential cities in the Western world. Once the capital of the huge Roman Empire, today it is the capital of Italy and contains the City State of the Vatican, headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church. Day 3. Saturday 29 December cont…../
You will also visit inside the Colosseum. Built around 70 AD, it was the largest amphitheatre built in the Roman Empire, capable of seating 80,000 spectators. It witnessed many spectacular gladiatorial combats paid for by the Emperors of Rome to appease the local population. Your tour will also include many of the other famous sights, such at the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps. In the afternoon you will visit the Vatican City, a sovereign city-state, almost completely walled within the city of Rome. It is the smallest independent nation in the world and is governed by the Pope, the Holy Father of the Catholic Church. The most prominent building inside the Vatican City is the Basilica of Saint Peter, dominated by Michaelangelo's dome. One of the largest churches in Christianity it covers an area of 6 acres and has a capacity of over 60,000 people. One of the holiest sites of Christendom, it is the burial site of Saint Peter, one of the twelve apostles. No visit would be complete without an entrance to the Sistine Chapel, which dates back to 1483. In 1508, Pope Julius II commissioned Michelangelo to repaint the ceiling and his fresco, which took four years to complete, is a spectacular achievement of human endeavour. Your will return to your hotel in the late afternoon. In the evening depart by luxury coach to a local restaurant, where dinner will be served.

th

Day 4. Sunday 30th December.
After breakfast an early departure for a full day tour to FLORENCE by luxury coach. Arrive in Florence and meet your guides for a panoramic tour of the City. Florence is the capital of the region of Tuscany. From 1865 to 1870 the city was also the capital of the Kingdom of Italy. Florence lies on the Arno River and has a population of around 400,000 people. A centre of medieval European trade and finance, the city is often considered the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance and was long ruled by the Medici family. Florence is also famous for its fine art and architecture. It is said that, of the 1,000 most important European artists of the second millennium, 350 lived or worked in Florence. As part of your tour we have arranged for a visit to the Accademia dell'Arte, the first academy of drawing in Europe. It was founded in 1561 under the patronage of the Medici family. The Gallery has housed the original David of Michelangelo since 1873. There are many notable renaissance works on display by artists such as Paolo Uccello, Domenico Ghirlandaio, Sandro Botticelli and Andrea del Sarto. You will also visit the Uffizi Gallery, which holds one of the oldest and most famous art museums in the world. After the touring is completed dinner will be served in a local Florentine restaurant, driving back to Rome afterwards for a late evening arrival in Rome.

Day 5. Monday 31 December.
After a leisurely breakfast depart by luxury coach to FRASCATI for a day of sightseeing and performance. The beautiful town of Frascati is located less than 15 miles south-east of Rome, on the Alban Hills close to the ancient city of Tusculum. It is a popular destination for Romans who like to escape the City at weekends, and has many fine hotels and restaurants. En route there will be time to stop in Castel Gandolfo a small town that occupies a height overlooking Lake Albano about 30 km south-east of Rome, on the Alban Hills. It is best known as the summer residence of the Pope. Clement VIII was the first Pope to come to Castel Gandolfo, but it was Pope Urban VIII who rebuilt the old castle in 1626. Late morning arrival in the assembly area in preparation for the Parade through the ancient streets of the Town. At noon the Parade and ‘Street Show’ will begin and will last for approximately one and a half hours. Afterwards you will be served lunch in a typical local restaurant, before returning by coach to Rome. ‘American Bands in Rome’ – an invitational event, New Year 2007/8 The Essentials
Youth Music of The World and its European based sister organisation Destination Events have created an excellent and exclusive Performance Tour Programme which is provided for all performing groups who are invited to travel from overseas to take part in the invitational events in Rome and Frascati over the New Year period 2007/8. The programme has been very carefully prepared by supremely experienced staff, most of whom have more than 20 years experience in bringing musical groups from overseas to Europe. The aim of the programme is to provide for the participant a unique, culturally enriching, broadly educational and ultimately hugely enjoyable Performance Travel programme. The experience of Youth Music and Destination Events staff, with their attention to detail, and full understanding of the needs of the group leaders, removes from band directors and group leaders much of the administrative and organisational burden. This allows group leaders the opportunity to devote their efforts to the internal management, and specifically the performance of the group. Intercontinental Air Travel Youth Music is committed to the use of major scheduled airlines. The airlines that will be used specifically for the events in Rome and Frascati will include the Italian State carrier, Alitalia, together with its Sky Team partners, Delta, Northwest, and Continental. British Airways will be used with London as its hub, as will airlines from the Star Alliance network including United and Lufthansa. The trans-Atlantic sector of the journey to and from Rome will be in the safety and comfort of modern wide bodied aircraft enjoying state of the art facilities and services in coach class. A main meal of either lunch or dinner, and a light meal of either breakfast or afternoon are served on all trans-Atlantic flights. There is also a complimentary soft drinks service, and of course, there is a wealth of excellent audio visual in-flight entertainment. Some carriers do now make a nominal charge for headsets to access the onboard entertainment systems.

Page 15 of 16 (2)

Accommodations
Youth Music of the World has contracted through its European partner Destination Events with a number of carefully selected Rome hotels that have been chosen because of their specific suitability for North American performing groups. All hotels will provide high quality accommodation and a good standard of service. One thing to remember about hotels in Rome is that the bedrooms in general are rather smaller than bedrooms of similar category hotels in the United States. We will never put more than four students in any one room, but in reality there are very, very few hotel bedrooms that we use that are capable of taking four people, and so usually students will be three to a room, and frequently two to a room. Adults accompanying groups will always be accommodated in twin or double bedded rooms. All our hotel bedrooms have en-suite facilities which will include a bath and/or shower and W.C. All rooms will be equipped with televisions, telephones, hair dryers, and heating/air conditioning.

Meals
Italian food is some of the best in the world, and we aim to give a sample of this great cuisine to everybody who attends the Rome invitational event. As is commonplace throughout Europe the meal that starts the day is a Continental buffet breakfast, and this is provided every day in the hotel for our groups. A typical breakfast buffet will offer a self service range of fruit juices, and hot drinks including tea, coffee, and hot chocolate. Cold milk will be available. There will be a number of cereals on offer and a range of fresh fruit. There will be a considerable number of pastries and bread items, as well as a selection of cheeses, hams, and continental cold sausage. On occasions there may be one or two hot items which will generally include scrambled eggs and bacon. In our Rome programme we provide dinner every day either in the hotel, in a conveniently located restaurant near the hotel or on a sightseeing route. On New Year’s Eve a lunch is provided in Frascati and so the evening dinner is a light meal. On the last night in Rome a special farewell dinner is served with an enhanced menu. Typically an Italian main meal consists of up to four courses. Firstly, there is served an antipasti, and this will consist of, for example, hams, cheeses, or marinated grilled vegetables (in Rome the artichoke is the most famous and favoured of these vegetables) and salads. After the Antipasti, a Primi Piatti is served. This is generally speaking either a pasta dish, a risotto dish, or a substantial soup. Then comes a Secondi Piatti which will be either a piece of meat or fish perhaps served with potatoes or a small salad. Afterwards there is a desert (Postre) which is generally very simple, based around ice cream or cake of one sort of another or fresh fruit.

Page 16 of 16 (3)

Meals, continued………/
We feel that to eat all four courses on a regular basis would be too much for North American students who are not used to multi course dining. Thus all our menus select either an antipasti or a Primi Piatti followed by a Secondi Piatti, and a Postre. The exception to this rule will be on the farewell dinner when all four courses will be served. Soft drinks will be served throughout all meals on a complimentary basis. Note that the lunch in Frascati, and the light dinner on New Year’s Eve will be two course meals which will be, in the case of Frascati, an Antipasti and an enhanced Primi Piatti, and in the case of the Rome dinner, an enhanced Primi Piatti, (either pasta, risotto, or pizza) and Postre (desert).

The Events
The events in Frascati and Rome are described on the enclosed information sheets. Both events are strictly invitational, and have as their Patrons the Mayors of Frascati and Rome respectively. As with all events organised by the Youth Music and Destination Events team they are professionally managed by the most talented team of event managers in Europe. The strictest standards of safety and security apply, and you can rest assured that both Rome events will be fully certificated and insured in accordance with all local regulations. Comprehensive health and safety risk assessments are prepared by our production staff for every event, and thanks to the Patronage of the Mayors of Rome and Frascati we do, of course, have the full support of all of the relevant agencies in both cities for the production of the events.

Staff
Youth Music of The World and Destination Events has a full time senior multi lingual staff member based in Rome to locally manage the Performance Tours. Youth Music of the World and Destination Events do not outsource the handling of their Performance Tours to third parties. The Rome and Frascati Events and Performance Tours are no exception.
