TRSA is a nonprofit organization devoted to the promotion of increased public awareness and support for research in the field of alcoholism and other substance abuse/dependence. Members include scientists working in the field of alcoholism and other substance abuse/dependence and also non-scientist members who wish to enhance public awareness and support for scientific research in these areas. The program is focused on research and is intended to promote communication and collaboration among researchers at Texas institutions and treatment professionals interested in learning more about recent research findings in substance abuse/dependence. The schedule will include submitted oral and poster presentations, the 2008 TRSA McGovern Fellowship Awardee and other invited presentations, including presentations from scientists from Texas medical schools. Additionally, a Panel Discussion on the Minimum Legal Drinking Age- 21 (MLDA21) debate will be presented. The informal nature of this meeting will make for a great "practice session" for students and young investigators who are planning to present their data at future meetings (i.e., RSA, CPDD). Please pass this information on to your colleagues. Reduced registration fee for students! MEETING LOCATION: The University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, Texas. The meeting will take place in the Academic and Administration Building (AAB) in rooms 108112. RECOMMENDED ACCOMMODATIONS: San Antonio Marriott Northwest, 3233 NW Loop 410, San Antonio, TX 78213, 210-377-3900 We have been granted the rate of $85 per night, single or double. To reserve a room, contact the hotel directly (800-706-9963) and identify yourself as a participant of a UTHSCSA meeting. For this special rate reserve by February 10. SHUTTLE: Shuttle service is available from the airport to the Hotel and from the hotel to UTHSC at no charge. A set time will be reserved for service to UTHSC so please indicate on the registration form if you will need shuttle service.

MEETING REGISTRATION: Please complete the registration form and return with your remittance to the TRSA office. The pre-registration fee is $25 for students (I.D. or letter from advisor required); $45 for TRSA members and $55 for non-members. Valid preregistration must be received by February 10. On-site or late registration will cost an additional $10. Check-In at the meeting location will begin at 8:00am with coffee and Danish available. ABSTRACT SUBMISSIONS: Member and non-member researchers are invited to submit abstracts of research findings to be presented at the meeting. For each abstract submitted (see form below), the authors should indicate whether they prefer an oral presentation or a poster presentation. Each investigator may submit as many as one oral presentation and one poster. The abstract submission deadline is February 10. You can submit the text or an attachment of your abstract by e-mail: debbyrsa@sbcglobal.net. The Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research (ACER) Editorial Board has approved having the TRSA abstracts (poster and oral) published – publication is optional. DIRECTIONS to TRSA Scientific Meeting February 20, 2009 ~ ~ San Antonio, Texas
MEETING LOCATION: The University of Texas Health Science Center, 7703 Floyd Curl Dr. ROOM LOCATION: Academic and Administration Building (AAB), Rooms 108-112 The AAB is located near the main entrance to the UTHSC. Upon entering the UTHSC on Floyd Curl Drive, the guard will give information on parking. The AAB is the closest building to the parking lot. There is also a guard at the entrance to the parking lot. Traveling I-35 south, take I-410 loop west to I-10 West, then left on Medical Drive (first exit). Travel 2 or 3 miles; turn left on Floyd Curl Drive, then 100 yards to the entrance of the UTHSC. Traveling I-10 West, go through San Antonio to the northwest side of town. After crossing I-410 on the north side, take left on Medical Drive (first exit). Travel 2 or 3 miles; turn left on Floyd Curl Drive, then 100 yards to the entrance of the UTHSC.

PARKING: All day parking is $6.00 in designated Visitor parking areas. Attendees can park in the visitor parking right next to the Academic building. For UTSA faculty and students: Faculty /Staff A --- zone I and II Faculty /Staff B --- zone III and IV
