You Will Have The Light With You
      Helen Pollack

You Will Have the Light Just A Little While Longer

Jesus taught the great mystery of death and resurrection. The picture of the seed falling to the ground
and dying only to rise and become many seeds revealed what He would do as the one seed. The
primary issue here was that the earthly dies and the spiritual lives. All things past, present and future
were crucified on the cross. Yet, Jesus lived again, rising again from death. Death was swallowed up
and defeated at the cross for all time. Paul described it in another way:

1 Cor 15:45-49 "The first man Adam became a living being"; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit. 46 The
spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual. 47 The first man was of the dust
of the earth, the second man from heaven. 48 As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the
earth; and as is the man from heaven, so also are those who are of heaven. 49 And just as we have
borne the likeness of the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness of the man from heaven. NIV

This is the transformation of our being of which Jesus spoke. The price was to follow Him and serve
Him. The word, "follow" in this context, means to accompany Him. The word, " serve" in this context,
means to await or tend Him. The disciples accompanying Him everywhere that He went, is a physical
picture of our walk with Him.

John 12:20-22 20 Now there were some Greeks among those who went up to worship at the Feast.
21 They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, with a request. "Sir," they said, "we would
like to see Jesus." 22 Philip went to tell Andrew; Andrew and Philip in turn told Jesus. NIV

John 12:23-26 23 Jesus replied, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. 24 I tell you
the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it
dies, it produces many seeds. 25 The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his
life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26 Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my
servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me. NIV

In order to follow and attend Him daily, we must give up the life that we have planned, that we believe
should be, that has been spoken over us by others, etc. If we follow Him one step at a time, as He has
said, we will be where we are suppose to be when we are suppose to be. We don't have to figure out
how to get there. The disciples did not have to figure it out when they walked with Him. When they
walked with His Spirit they followed Him wherever He led.

John 12:27-28 27 "Now my heart is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save me from this hour'?
No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. 28 Father, glorify your name!" NIV

John 12:28-29 Then a voice came from heaven, "I have glorified it, and will glorify it again." 29 The

crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him. NIV

John 12:30-33 30 Jesus said, "This voice was for your benefit, not mine. 31 Now is the time for
judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out. 32 But I, when I am lifted up from
the earth, will draw all men to myself." 33 He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die.

All things were brought to the cross and judged on that day when Jesus was crucified. All things of this
earth and the spirit realm were judged, past, present and future. The end of the current earth as we
know it came to the cross where everything met and was placed on the Son of Man. Death was killed
by the Son of God and Satan's defeat was complete.

Today, we are walking in a victory that has already been won. Each one of us, following Jesus, will
complete the journey of victory unto eternal life. Jesus said that He was the way the truth and the life.
By abiding in Him we walk in His light and His eternal life.

John 12:34 34 The crowd spoke up, "We have heard from the Law that the Christ will remain forever,
so how can you say, 'The Son of Man must be lifted up'? Who is this 'Son of Man'?" NIV

John 12:35-36 35 Then Jesus told them, "You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk
while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. The man who walks in the dark does not
know where he is going. 36 Put your trust in the light while you have it, so that you may become sons
of light." When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them. NIV

Jesus spoke of Himself as the light that they would have just a little longer. Only by trusting in Him are
we able to become sons of light with the capacity to receive spiritual light. After He left the earth, the
spiritual light was sent to lead us. We have to be given the capacity to receive it by trusting in Jesus.
Spiritual things and eternal life cannot be obtained by our own effort or our own way. We must walk
and attend and follow the eternal one who is eternal life in order to attain it. The gift of understanding
the truths that are God's alone come only from God. Those that have it are His Sons of Light.

      In His Abundant Love,
