                                   Spelling Test
Please make sure your child knows that spelling test A is the primary goal for the
first grade students. We created the Test B words because some students are
familiar with the word families being taught or may have already had experience
with the words from Test A. At Deer Point we try to challenge students on
different levels. I want to make sure students do not feel upset if they are taking
                                 the Test A test.

                                      Research Report
We will be studying Earth, Space, and Time this week and next. A research report
explanation was sent home today. The students have two weeks to complete the
report. It is due on February 10th. The students drew their planet. In addition to the site
listed on the explanation sheet, I will send the video links we discussed during catch
and release.

                                      FUN FRIDAY
This week is a five day week, so we will be ablr to have Fun Friday. :) Please know that
if we have a four day week we have to make up the Intervention/Enrichment time (30
minutes) at the end of the day on Friday.

I hope to have the students writing samples from last week assessed by tonight. I plan
to send them home tomorrow so you can see where your child is doing well and where
they may need additional guidance with the writing process.

                                Behavior During Lessons
Today I had to call on several students throughout the day. Many of the students
continued to turn and talk to their friend throughout the lessons. I moved several of the
students last week. They seem to migrate back to where their friends are throughout
the day. Please talk to your child about listening during instruction and not moving
around to sit by their friend.
                                                                               Mrs. Arnold
