SESD Nutrition Standards for Fundraising
Fundraisers (non-vending) – including foods sold during extra curricular events 2006-2007:
 There will be no food items sold as fundraisers, available for sale during the school day or on school buses. Organizations which sell foods as fundraisers that are available for sale outside of the school day, are encouraged to assess the nutritional content of these food items. The nutritional information should be evaluated in order to consider supporting healthy eating by limiting food high in added sugar, fat, sodium or trans fat content for future fundraising. Nutritional standards and alternative revenue generating sources will be developed and presented as a fundraising resource packet. The Dining Services Director and the SESD Health Advisory Council will coordinate efforts to provide assistance in identifying foods that meet supportive criteria. Marketing, pricing and nutrition education strategies will be used to encourage selection of the healthier foods.
