					VoiceThread
Create a VoiceThread “Pro” Account
1. Go to: www.voicethread.com... Click the Sign In or Resgister button ---------  TIP: Flash Player is required to use this site. A link and instructions will be provided if your computer needs to install this component. 2. Click the Register link… enter the requested information… click Register TIP: Don’t have an email account? Use a fake one. For example, John Doe at New Prague Middle School would type… jdoe@npms.com. Teachers: Use your school email address. This will allow you to upgrade to a “Pro” account which has additional features. Write your email and password information here for future reference.---------------------------------------------------------------------------  3. In the upper-right corner, click the Go Pro! button ------------------------------------- 

4. At the bottom of the account window, click the K-12 educators link --------------  5. Enter the requested information… click the Apply button 6. Within 24-hours (usually) you will receive a confirmation email message. Click the link in the message to confirm your K-12 email address and Pro account.

Locating a VoiceThread
1. Go to: www.voicethread.com... Click the Sign In or Resgister button 2. Type your Email and Password in the space provided… click Sign In 3. Your “My Voice” page will appear… click the Browse tab ---------------------------  4. Type a keyword to see VoiceThreads that match the term… press Enter -------  5. To view a VoiceThread presentation, click the presentation picture 6. To start the presentation, click the Play button

“Doodle” on a VoiceThread
1. To draw on a slide, click Record (or Type, or Video)… click a color -------------  2. To begin drawing, click and drag the pointer over the slide ------------------------  3. When you are finished, click the Save button



Connect the Microphone
1. Plug the mic into the red/pink computer mic jack (front or back of computer) 2. In the lower-right corner, double-click the speaker icon ----------------------------  3. From the top menu, click Options… if available, check Advanced Controls 4. Again, click Options… select Properties… click Recording… click OK --------  5. Make sure the Microphone Select box is checked… set the Volume to 80% 6. In the Microphone column, click the Advanced button (if available) 7. Place a checkmark in the 1 Mic boost box… click the Close button 8. Close the Recording Control window

Adding Your Voice to a VoiceThread
1. To add your voice to the presentation, click the Record button --------------------  TIP: A security warning may appear… click the Allow button. 2. To stop recording, click the Stop Recording button… click the Save button 3. To go to the next slide, click the Next arrow… to exit, click the  button ------- 

Create a New VoiceThread
1. Click the Create tab ----------------------------------------------------------------------------  2. Click the Upload button… click the From My Computer button 3. Select the PowerPoint (or picture, or video) files you want to upload 4. Click the Open button… the slides will begin to upload and appear 5. Click the Add a title and description button… type a title for your project -----  TIP: Use a “searchable” title for your VoiceThreads. For example, Mr. Brandt…  Mr. Brandt: Global Warming  Mr. Brandt: Technology in Education  Mr. Brandt: American Revolution 6. Click the Comment button… click the Record button to begin recording 7. Click Share… change Private to Public, yes comments… turn moderation On 8. Click Options…       Wait 0 seconds Start playing when opened? Show fullscreen when opened? Allow others to download images? Hide final share page? Allow others to export?

Yes No No No No… click Save



Edit an Existing VoiceThread
1. If you are viewing a VoiceThread, click the  in the corner of the VoiceThread 2. Click the My Voice tab… click the Gear icon… click the Edit button -------------  3. To add images, click the Upload button… click the From My Computer button 4. Select the PowerPoint (or picture, or video) files you want to upload 5. Click the Open button… the slides will begin to upload and appear TIP: To change the order, click and drag a slide to a new location. 6. Click the Comment button… click the Record button 7. To draw on a slide, select a color… click and drag the pointer over the slide 8. Click the Stop Recording button… click the Save button TIP: VoiceThread projects are automatically saved. To view your VoiceThread, click the MyVoice tab. 9. To delete a VoiceThread project, click the Delete Thread button ------------------ 
