GROWTH
۰ The enrollments in our programs are growing quickly such

HOMELAND SECURITY EDUCATION - KEY
ISSUES
۰ Homeland Security education is growing and gaining
    legitimacy
۰ Hard to bracket – what does HS exclude?
۰ Most programs are grassroots efforts – not top down directed
۰ Degree name not necessarily indicative of underlying
    courses
۰ Programs that pre-existed 9/11 have subsequently been
renamed homeland security (Nexus to homeland security is
    suspect in some cases)
۰ Quick growth has resulted in wide range of quality –
    accreditation should help
۰ Qualified faculty an issue – many NPS alums now teaching
                                                              13
