High Sierra Animal Rescue (HSAR) Marketing and Development Manager Statement of Responsibilities and Skill Sets The HSAR Marketing and Development Manager position will be responsible for the following two key areas: 1. Marketing and fundraising to meet HSAR’s annual fundraising goal. 2. Overseeing and directing new and existing fundraising events. Specifically, the HSAR Marketing and Development Manager will be responsible for building, increasing and/or improving the following: Website, email, social media and digital marketing and fundraising campaigns Brand/name recognition Donor base Donor contributions Membership base Fundraising events Pet adoptions Pet boarding The Marketing and Development Manager will be expected to: Work closely and cooperatively with the HSAR Facilities and Operations Manager. Manage the website, email, social media and digital mediums. Manage the database Write newsletters, articles, blogs, ads, etc. for both electronic and print media. Work closely with board members on grant proposals. Provide accurate and timely reports to measure marketing and fundraising effectiveness. Work within an annual budget and assist the Finance Committee with setting the annual department budget. Attend monthly board meetings. Take direction from the Board of Directors. Attend fundraising events. Network with other animal rescue organizations. Travel to conferences and training classes. Promote HSAR in a positive, constructive and professional manner to customers, volunteers, governmental bodies, community groups, animal welfare organizations, the public and news media. Foster a humane, caring and respectful attitude throughout the organization. The HSAR Marketing and Development Manager will possess the following skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in software and social media applications such as: Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, WordPress, MailChimp, etc.. A team player who also works well independently and is a self-starter. Strong planning and organizational skills, including the ability to anticipate tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines and delegate effectively. Ability to develop and maintain positive and productive relationships with donors, volunteers, Board of Directors, and staff. Confidence, enthusiasm and a sense of humor. The HSAR Marketing and Development Manager will have a love of animals, a passion for HSAR’s mission and possess a long term desire to live in Plumas County. The HSAR Marketing and Development Manager will receive a performance/salary review at least annually or at any time as directed by the Board of Directors. An initial goal will be to increase HSAR’s income equal to the manager’s salary within a year and to balance the HSAR budget within 2-3 years. The HSAR Marketing and Development Manager position is an exempt 40 hours per week (salaried) position. Hours may vary and could include weekends, holidays and evenings, as necessary. HSAR reserves the right to modify this document at any time as deemed necessary. Education and Experience - A proven track record in marketing and development management. Salary - Commensurate with the candidate’s proven track record of success, skill sets and experience. The minimum starting salary is $33,280 per year.
