What is a domain name?
• Domain name is an identifier, which identifies a particular website uniquely.

Need for a Domain Name?
• On the World Wide Web your domain name is your own unique identity. No two parties can ever hold the same domain name simultaneously; therefore your website identity is totally unique.

How do I acquire a domain name?
• There are two ways you can get a domain name. • You can either register your domain name yourself. • You can get your web host to register it for you.

To register yourself
• To register a domain name yourself you will need to choose a Registrar. A Registrar is an ICANN (Internet corporation for names and numbers) accredited domain registration company. • Example:www.godaddy.com

Hosting your website
• A website is hosted on a web server. • A web server is a computer program that delivers (serves) content. • There are various service provider, who provide webhosting services. • Example: Godaddy.com,hostgator.com

Promoting Your website
• Final step is promoting your website. • Different ways of promoting your website is through advertisements and affiliate programs.
