PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 15, 2006
Killeen Police responded to a residence in the 500 block of Ray St. on Wednesday, February 15,
2006, at approximately 9:30am. Witnesses reported that a female was in the front yard with a pit
bull when they saw the dog attack her. A male that was inside the residence saw the attack
happen; as he was attempting to pull the dog away from the female, he was also attacked. Both
victims were able to get away from the dog and run inside the residence. As officers and EMS
arrived they were unable to get to the victims because the dog was guarding the residence. An
Animal Control Officer arrived and took custody of the dog. As he was placing him into the
kennel on the truck the dog was able to turn enough and bite the Animal Control Officer. The
male and female inside the residence were both transported to Metroplex Hospital with non life
threatening wounds. The Animal Control Officer was treated and released from Metroplex
Clinic with a minor dog bite. The dog has been placed into quarantine with the Killeen Animal
Shelter and will remain in quarantine for 10 days. The victims are taking care of the pit bull for
friends. There have been no charges filed at this time and the case continues to be investigated.
