					the story

FEED Granola Co. was created on the simple idea that our bodies’ performance is determined by the food we eat. Established a little while back (2004), in the West Village, NYC apartment, of Jason Osborn and Jason Wright, FEED Granola Co. started as a healthy snack.
Both Osborn and Wright were working as successful fashion models in New York, Miami, and Europe when they found themselves in need of a healthy snack to fit into their active lifestyle. The pair started baking their own granola, about two pounds a day, and it quickly became a hit with friends and family. Shortly thereafter, a restaurant owner tried the product, and loved it so much he urged the guys to start selling FEED at local stores. By the end of the year FEED was a favorite among local shoppers, and the demand had outgrown what they could produce at home. They began packaging FEED, selling it to retailers door to door, and by the end of 2007, were available in Whole Food Markets and regional stores across the country. FEED has always been about creating healthy options for those looking for sustainable, high quality, natural, and certified organic snacks. Using whole grains, slow roasted nuts, flaxseeds, and spices FEED Granola Co. is able to provide wholesome, fiber rich, low sugar, and high energy products that fill a void in the needs of their customers, while tasting great too! Approved by nutritionists and consumers alike, FEED has recently been featured as “Snack of The Day” on The Rachael Ray Show, was named “The Most Interesting Update of this old-fashioned breakfast in years,” by Hallmark Magazine, was called “A hearty snack, and a welcome break from corporate granola,” by the editors at Thrillist.com. The founders were listed in Inc. Magazine’s “30 Under 30” as some of “America’s Coolest Entrepreneurs.” In addition, FEED Granola Co. was granted 2 “Best Packaging Finalist” nominations at The Natural Products Expo East. FEED currently offers five flavors of their whole grain granola, including: Blueberry Almond Crunch, Raisin Nut Crunch, Cranberry Coconut Crunch, and two new low sugar options, Apple A Day and Bittersweet-ness. New York, NY –FEED Granola Co. is encouraging people everywhere to start healthy “grazing” throughout the day. “Grazing” is the practice of eating small, healthy snacks, throughout the day, to help sustain energy and reduce pesky cravings. The Granola Guys’ goal is to encourage their friends to take the time to eat simple, healthful foods, while making snacking easier. FEED Granola was created to provide people with a healthy and tasty snack choice, resulting in a happier, more productive day! Created by two successful fashion models, FEED was developed as a flavorful, satisfying and rewarding option for those looking for wholesome, nutritious foods. Founders, Jason Osborn and Jason Wright, knew that to perform better meant eating better, so they began making FEED in their small West Village, NYC apartment in 2004. “We were focused on creating a balanced snack that was both delicious and nutritious, that would fill the needs of our active lifestyles,” says co-founder Osborn. “We started making our own granola, sharing it with friends, and almost immediately realized that we created something that people needed, but also really liked!”

Today, FEED is available at select retailers nationwide. “FEED Granola is a well-balanced snack, perfect for healthy snacking throughout the day,” says co-founder Wright. “At FEED Granola Co., we believe that what we eat determines how we perform, and we’re proud to offer five organic, whole grain flavors that will help you perform at your best.”

FEED is Available in Five Flavors: Cranberry Coconut - Made with organic multi-grains, roasted almonds and pecans, lightly sweetened with organic brown rice syrup, tart cranberries and organic coconut chips. Blueberry Almond - Slow roasted almonds, organic multi-grains, dark molasses, and plump
blueberries make this delicious treat the perfect snack.

Raisin Nut

- “the Original” consists of roasted cashews, organic multi-grains, almonds, pecans, delicious raisins and the light sweetness of clover honey.

the granola guys
Jason Osborn
Jason Osborn grew up in Cherry Hill, NJ, where cooking and baking became a family pastime. It was during this time, when Jason developed his passion for food and healthy eating. After high school, Jason attended Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania where he studied Business Management & Marketing. Upon graduation, Jason moved to New York City working for an advertising firm in the hip NoHo section of Manhattan. After a few years at the ad agency, Jason was presented an opportunity to travel and see the world with a new career in modeling. From Greece to Korea, Italy to Hong Kong, Jason was able to explore the globe while equally exploring his passion for new foods and flavors. After his travels, Jason returned home to New York, where he became inspired with his then roommate, Jason Wright, to create a healthy, yet tasty snack they could share with family and friends. It was at this point when FEED quickly became a favorite organic, whole grain snack amongst friends in their West Village neighborhood. By December of 2005, FEED Granola was on shelves of local Manhattan stores, where the snack began to gain a strong following. Today Jason is one of the co-Founders of FEED Granola Co., and is proud to be introducing the world to a tasty and healthful treat.

Jason Wright

Jason Wright is a South Carolina native who has always been an entrepreneur. From the age of 15, Jason successfully operated several small businesses throughout high school. Upon graduation, he attended The University of South Carolina, where he studied Hotel, Restaurant, & Tourism Management. After working with a major fashion retailer in the Southeast, Jason decided to move to New York City. While in Manhattan, he began a successful career as a fashion model with one of the world’s most prestigious agencies, allowing Jason to travel the United States and Europe. It was while modeling that Jason and roommate, Jason Osborn, realized that the granola they were making for themselves was being requested by all of their friends! Wright immediately saw an opportunity to make FEED available to all, and to spread his message that the foods we eat determine how we feel. Jason is now a co-Founder of FEED Granola Co., and is very happy to have the opportunity to turn his interest in healthy living into a mission.

inc.com, 30 under 30
Inc.com, The Daily Resource for Entrepreneurs, votes Jason Osborn and Jason Wright one of America’s coolest young entrepreneurs.
The two Jasons started out as roommates in Manhattan’s West Village and ended up as business partners. They met after they both moved to New York to pursue modeling -- that is, until a better idea came along. Osborn grew up around a family of bakers and turned his apartment into a test kitchen for his first batch of granola. After consulting a nutritionist who verified the health benefits of the concoction, the roommates set out pitching their new product to local health food stores. Eventually, they got a meeting with the regional food buyer for Whole Foods in the Northeast, and landed FEED Granola a spot on the chain’s shelves. This past year, their product was featured as the “Snack of the Day” on Rachael Ray. #28 JASON WRIGHT #29 JASON OSBORN FEED GRANOLA CO. BusinessWeek chats with two young entrepreneurs who aim to ‘Feed’ the masses quality organic granola
How many times have you come up with an idea that causes your friends to say: “Hey, that could be a business!” How many times have you agreed with them? But how many times have you actually gone out and transformed that idea into a real business? Well, that’s exactly what former models turned business partners Jason Osborn and Jason Wright ended up doing. In 2005, the pair turned the granola that they made as a snack in their New York City apartment into a three-flavor organic line they named FEED Granola. Now sold in eight states at stores including Whole Foods Market (WFMI) and Wegmans Food Markets, FEED Granola earned $110,000 in sales in 2006, and is projected to make $2 million over the next 12 months, according to Osborn and Wright. Recently, BusinessWeek.com’s Stacy Perman spoke with Osborn and Wright about making the leap from a home kitchen hobby to a full-time company.

The Critics’ Pick of Time Out New York love feed granola.
“Unlike most granolas, which rely on oats alone for their base, FEED contains crunchy organic oats, barley and rye. Brown-rice syrup and molasses give it some sweetness; seeds, nuts and dried fruits add texture. And health fanatics will appreciate the combination of protein, complex carbohydrates, fiber and omega-3s—there’s enough energy in here to keep you fueled through the morning.” - Jane Borden, Critics’ Pick. FEED Granola Co. has a critic favorite with Bittersweet-ness.
Wednesday, October 3, 2007 Bonnie S. Benwick The major food trend at last weekend’s Natural Products Expo East show in Baltimore was easy to spot, even though thousands of organic items were vying for attention. Here are three from the show that we especially liked: Feed Granola Co. The small New York company launched its first three flavors (Cranberry Coconut Crunch, Blueberry Almond Crunch, Raisin Nut Crunch) of low-sugar, multi grain granolas at the Expo East show last year. We sampled and liked Bittersweet-ness, the newest flavor with its dark chocolate pieces, which goes public next month. They are available at Whole Foods Markets, Roots Markets and Yes! Organic Markets. Go to http://www. feedgranola.com.
