It was name ENIAC. This stood for: Electrical Numerical Integrator And Calculator. This computer The ENIAC weighed 30 tons and contained about 200 kilowatts of power. The ENIAC was the most advanced computer during this time. The U.S. military sponsored the research and creation of this useful tool. Eighteen months and $500,000 tax dollars later the ENIAC was finished. This computer was used for calculations. Some of the calculations were used to make the hydrogen bomb and many other things. Another useful tool that was made around this time was the Univac. The Univac was the first electronic calculator. This calculator was used to calculate the The Univac U.S. census. Census is the amount of taxpayers that are in the United States. Sput nik The Space ace started in the late 1950s in Russia. On October 4, 1957 The Russians launched Sputnik. Sputnik was about the size of a basketball and it was the first satellite ever to be sent up to space. It took about 98 minutes to orbit the Earth. The Sputnik started basically everything in space that we have now, it also led to the creation of NASA. Yuri Gargorian was the first person ever to fly. Microsoft is a software company that right now is at the top of its game. Bill Gates and Paul Allen started this business. The original name of the by the DOJ. company was Trafo-data, then it was changed Bill Gates to microPaul Allen soft, then it was changed to what it is now which is Microsoft. Bill and Paul wrote a simple hypertext language for their software. They also came out with MSDOS. MS-DOS stands for MicroSoft Disk Operating System. World War II also brought up some technology. Radar was invented around the time of this war. In the early 1940s Charles Gould wrote a Dick Tracy Comic Book Strip. In it Dick Tracy had a piece Tracy Dick of technology, that had never even been heard of at the time. It was a two-way wrist radio. Deep Blue (computer) VS. Kasparov (human) Radio Shack is a business that most everyone has heard of. If you ever need anything that has to do with computers Radio Shack is the place to go. In fact the first Radio Shack that was ever opened was in 1921. IBM was the first to invent many things. One of their inventions was the first floppy disc, which came out in 1967. In 1983 TIME magazine nominated the PC as “man of the year”. Yahoo is a well-known business that David Filo and Jerry Yang were the guys who invented Yahoo. came out in April of 1994. 1996 IBM’s deep blue computer defeated a chess master in two games of chess. In CTR was the first business to get into computers. Their first invention were punch cards. People used punch cards to vote. And to this day they still use punch cards to vote. At the time CTR was the only computer company around. So some people got together and decided that logo they IBM would start a business called IBM so that the two companies could compete. IBM is also known as Big Blue. Soon the companies were so evenly matched that they decided to combine so they did and they kept the name IBM. CTR logo Vannaneur Bush wrote an article called “As we may think”. Within this article he wrote about inventions that he thought would evolve in the near future. He was dead on with his predictions. He talked about the mouse and hypertext language. And those two things are around and very important now. Vannaneur Bush
