Chairman’s Chirp
Hallo Sunshine
After a lot of help from our fellow Sunshine members my Swing finally got onto a lovely spot with a view of the sea. The
bricks in front on the wheel luckily helped us to stay on our stand and we did not end up on the beach. We kept our tally up
with a very good turn out of 19 families attending our rally at Rocky Bay.
Natal Region spoiled us Friday evening with their special “vetkoek” and thereafter our birthday boy Stephan Spieker
treated us with cake. Well done to Vannessa and her team.
We all enjoyed the Sunshine spirit at the rugby and Midlands Region joined us as well. We had to have meet for supper as
the fish did not want to bite this weekend. There was as usual a feast of salads and desserts to share.
Our church service on Sunday was unique and we all realized how little we really know our Bibles after Yvonne gave us
a few questions to answer.
Well done to the Brooms that achieved 50 Nationals at this rally, also to the Redferns who have done 10.
I would like to thank all of you who added your names to the list to help at pedal car. I believe we are going to have a super
pedal car rally with all the support behind us. Remember you blue shirt and see you all at Pedal Car! Sunshine is TOPS!

Chief Rally Master’s Report
Hello Everyone.
Well, what can I say - another successful weekend. Everything and everyone played their part, from our rally
marshals, thank you John and June, to the weather for the most part, a bit of wind on Saturday had a few people
running for storm straps.
We had an incident on the Friday evening - I am sure you are all aware that the Larneys had most of their
belongings stolen from their tent while we were all 20-30 meters away at friendlies - thank goodness the purse was
found in the pram, which did make the very bad situation a bit better.
Thanks must also go the Stephan, who I am sure at the time of inviting everyone to watch the Rugby at his van,
never realized how many people there would be. Cyril was once again up to his normal tricks infuriating everyone
with his Ausie chirps. Justice did prevail when he got a bad cramp in his leg and he also redeemed himself by
donating his winnings back to the club. There was another Ausie supporter amongst (us no names mentioned, Juliet)
who was also duly fined R100.
That time of years is now upon us: PEDAL CAR RALLY!! Once again, please everyone help where you can, and
let's have a very successful event. I am sure our riders are going to do well in the new car, the food stall make
millions and all sunshines in blue win the spirit cup.

Next Rally
PEDAL RALLY 9th to 11th OCTOBER AT KARRIDENE
Arrangements for our annual Pedal Car Rally are boiling. The Committee is appealing to EACH MEMBER to offer
of his or her best at the Rally, in every way possible. So far, the response has been wonderful, once again showing
that ours is a great Region!
You will be asked to pay Rally Fees as you arrive at Karridene R200 which includes Park fees, Rally fee and a ticket in
our Raffle (more tickets available @ R10 each). Members are asked to then park close to the food tent (yellow gazebo on
sites 48/49) if at all possible this will make to more convenient for you when your turn comes up to help! And for Cyril to
find you when he needs you.
IF YOU ARE A PENSIONER, you should pay the Park and bring the receipt to the Gate Marshal.
If you are arriving a day early (i.e. on THURSDAY) please let Yvonne know, and be aware that this is not part of the rally
weekend you will have to pay extra (to the Gate Marshal and not the Park, unless you are a pensioner.)
Please see Cyril as soon as you are set up and offer your services. Remember, even if you can't make pancakes and cry
when you slice onions, you can surely cut and butter rolls!
We also request members to please bring large containers with lids that seal eg buckets, for pancake mixture etc
Cyril has a full stock (all sizes) of Club shirts and caps so you are asked to “be blue” at Pedal Car. The golf style T shirts
are a bargain at R70, and specially ready for this rally will be kiddies' T shirts at R45 each please phone Cyril on
0832627206 to order if you have not already done so.
Liz and Odette are arranging some war cries and wow-wow girls, so let's make sure our Sun Shines brightly the whole
weekend as there is a special Trophy for the Region which displays the best Team Spirit. We will all approach the start of
the main race together (time to be announced) making as much noise as we can

WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER QUESTION A DRUNK
I was shopping at the local supermarket where I selected:
A Lt.of 2% milk,
A Dozen eggs,
A Lt. of orange juice,
A head of lettuce,
A can of coffee, and
500 g of bacon.
As I was unloading my items on the conveyor belt to check out, a drunk standing behind me watched as I placed the items in front of the
cashier. While the cashier was ringing up the purchases, the drunk calmly stated, 'You must be single.' I was a bit startled by this
proclamation, but I was intrigued by the derelicts intuition, since I was indeed single. I looked at the six items on the belt and saw nothing
particularly unusual about my selections that could have tipped off the drunk to my marital status. Curiosity getting the better of me, I said:
‘Well, you know what, you're absolutely right. But how on earth did you know that?'
The drunk replied, 'Cause you're ugly.’

Special Notices
Foxy reports that their son, Lance, is almost ready to be moved to the Rehab hospital, although he has had to undergo two more
operations of his leg due to infection having set in. Then will come a long period of rehabilitation and physiotherapy, and we wish
Lance strength and perseverance on the road to full recovery.
Lena's Dad, who is frail, as well as the Theron and Pienaar families, need your prayers.
Pieter & Barbara le Grange's daughter, Nicky, came through her long operation for a facial tumour and re-constructive surgery we trust she
will soon be home with her family. Let’s keep her in our prayers until she has fully recovered.
Just to let you all know: we raised a wonderful R800 at AGM for CUPPA for CANSA. Thanks for your generosity, especially to “you know
who”. I'm sure our donation will be well received and well used.
Cyril has asked us to list all his smous items, so here they are:

Northern Natal Beer Fest
Our annual Beer Fest will again be held in November. The dates will be the weekend of the 7th & 8th of November. Intention slips will
be sent out in September to the Regions. We would like it back by 20 October 2009 for catering purposes. The plan is to get 1 (or 2)
wild pigs for a spit braai. Draught beer will also be for sale on Saturday.
