ZED the first Cirque du Soleil Resident Show in Japan Celebrates its World Premiere on October 1 at Tokyo Disney Resort ZED, the first permanent Cirque du Soleil production in Japan, celebrates its World Premiere on October 1 at Tokyo Disney Resort(R). The show is performed in the Cirque du Soleil Theatre Tokyo, a custom built theatre facility with seating for 2,170 guests.
ZED was written and directed by acclaimed film and theatre director Francois Girard, who most recently directed the feature film Silk, and received international praise for The Red Violin.
The show ZED is a living poem, a timeless evocation that draws on the Tarot and its arcana, an imaginary world that conjures the vitality of the human condition and holds up a mirror to our true selves. The central larger-than-life character Zed represents humanity in all its guises, from wisdom to folly, from discovery to adventure. Zed grows as he discovers the world on his journey of initiation. Through this undertaking the people of the sky and the people of the earth are trying to connect with each other; through Zed, they come together. With a cast of 70 world-class artists from 24 countries, ZED features stunning acts with a wide spectrum of daring aerial acrobatics, human strength and agility and innovative technology and staging. ZED performs Thursdays through Mondays. No shows on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
