ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY INSTRUCTOR Keyano College, located in Fort McMurray, Alberta, is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable individual to join our student-centered Science and Technology Department to instruct courses in the Environmental Technology program area. Our Environmental Technology program is a two-year diploma program with a focus on the oil sands, conventional oil and gas, coal, and forestry industries in the Boreal Forest region of Western Canada. It prepares students for environmental technology positions with the resource industry and regulatory organizations. This is a project position commencing August 15, 2011 until June 20, 2012. The successful candidate will be responsible for curriculum development, classroom and laboratory instruction, field trips, evaluation of students, consultation and advisement, and liaison with employers, government agencies, professional associations and other education institutions. As well, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in both Departmental and College affairs, particularly with respect to raising the profile of the department particularly with respect to recruitment, tutoring, and academic advising of students as required. Courses to be taught will include, but are not limited to, Soil Science, Chemistry, Water Quality, and Environmental Math. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of a Master of Science degree, PhD preferred, in Environmental Science or related field with 3 to 5 years work/field experience. Previous teaching experience is desirable. Individuals pursuing or interested in pursuing applied research are encouraged to apply. Demonstrated planning skills and the ability to work independently and as a team member are essential for this position. An excellent understanding of environmental issues related to natural resource industries in Western Canada is required. SALARY: ________________ per annum (based on 200 work days per year) plus a comprehensive benefits package including relocation assistance, and a regional living allowance.
