New Program Helps Local Veterans and Surviving Spouses Apply for and Obtain Aid and Attendance
Pension Benefit through Department of Veterans Affairs to Help Pay for Safe, Affordable Home Care

Online PR News – 30-January-2014 – One in three seniors in the United States is a veteran or surviving
spouse of a veteran. Every day, many of these men and women go without the health care they need simply
because of lack of information or assistance. Recognizing this, Home Helpers of Greater Katy, one of the
area’s leading senior care franchises specializing in comprehensive home healthcare services and
companionship, has teamed up with Veterans Care Coordination to provide an easier path for veterans and
surviving spouses to receive the benefits to which they are entitled and the home care they deserve.

“One of the biggest challenges people face is how they will pay for the care they need,” said Cynthia Bové,
Owner of Home Helpers of Greater Katy. “What many veterans and their spouses do not realize is that they
may be eligible for up to $24,000 per year of tax-free money to pay for home care services. We’ve partnered
with Veterans Care Coordination to assist qualifying veterans and their spouses apply for and obtain the Aid
and Attendance Benefit through the Department of Veterans Affairs to help cover their medical expenses,
including Home Helpers home care services.”

According to Kyle Laramie, president of Veterans Care Coordination, “What makes this partnership unique is
the fact that we can offer interest-free loan assistance to clients that cannot afford the up-front, out-of-pocket
expense that is required. Our company assists seniors in their qualification for the benefit, reducing the stress
commonly associated with applying for assistance. We are thrilled to partner with Home Helpers of Greater
Katy to provide local veterans with the benefits to which they are entitled.”

Home Helpers provides companion care, elder care and respite care, in the comfort of home so their clients
can enjoy aging in place. Caregivers work with clients one-on-one to tailor flexible care plans to meet their
specific needs and budgets, with services such as local transportation, light housekeeping, meal preparation,
medication reminders and bathing, among others.

“We’re honored to support our local veterans and provide them with the affordable home care they deserve,”
Bové said.
