Bethesda, MD, January 02, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Association Transformation Was the Goal of 2013 “CEO
Workout”

Nineteen CEOs and Executive Directors of associations met in Annapolis, MD October 28-29 to address
the mounting need for vision-driven action by membership organizations. Convened by Association
Transformation, led by Seth Kahan, an executive strategy consultant, and Ron Nicodemus, an expert in
world-class leadership events, this “CEO Workout” was the first step in forming a think tank to
understand and support the needs of association leaders in the face of rapidly changing market conditions.

“What's exciting about this is that these leaders are getting ready to take the bull by the horns, to face the
disruptions that are beginning to impact membership organizations and craft innovative responses,” said

John Graham, CEO of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), identified mobile
technology, the US economic outlook, and changing demographics as disruptors of association “business

The newly formed group will track emerging trends to help envision sustainable business models for the
long term, cognizant of tactics needed for the interim. “We look to the future with an eye to
understanding what to do now to lead and prepare,” said Kahan.

“We're leading in a space where multiple disruptions are occurring - this is a new and profoundly
different moment for leaders of association and by working together we believe we can have a hand in
our own destiny,” said Julie Coons, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Electronic Retailing
Association.

The group has crafted an ambitious agenda designed to leverage the collective knowledge and experience
of its members: “We will move forward by defining needs, contributing our expertise and summoning
