Whew!!! August already. Where’s the summer gone? Let me list some events and opportunities that many of you can be a part of this month and next. (1) On August 5th, at the 11:00 a.m. service, Allen and Tina Lyle will share with us concerning their work among the people in Kyrgyzstan. They have some thrilling stories to tell and you will not want to miss this service. (2) On August 11 , there will be a training opportunity for all AWANA workers and for prospective workers at Immanuel Baptist in Elizabethton, TN. And speaking of AWANA, our starting date for the new AWANA year is September 5th, at 6:30 p.m. Let’s get ready! (3) Beginning August 11 – August 26 , there will be an opportunity for anyone at the First Family to be involved with ministering to the Appalachian Fair Carnival Workers at the Gray Fair Grounds. This would include evangelism, literature See Paul and Eunice Burrus for more distribution, cooking, sorting and distributing clothes, and other “hands on” work. information and sign up. (4) At 8:30 a.m. on August 25th, we will have a Men’s Prayer Breakfast at the church. A sign up sheet will be distributed and posted. Men, please mark your calendars. Also on that day, from 10:00 a.m. - Noon, we will do an “AWANA flyer blitz” in our church area to promote our new AWANA year. (5) Finally, “calling all couples”. A Celebration of Marriage Conference will be held at the Meadowview Conference Center in Kingsport, on September 14th - 15th. Register now and receive a discounted conference fee.
