BILLINGHAM NORTH BN1 No 2444

Although I exercise a No change postal vote, I think the 4 current polling stations could be distributed more evenly through the ward. The Tunstall Ave/Barmpton Close mobile is only a few hundred yards away from the Marsh House Avenue station. The most Northerly polling station is also quite close to the 2 mentioned above, leaving those in the North West of the Ward quite a distance to travel to a polling station compared to those living in the South and East parts. Polling Stations were in good positions to cover the Ward.

Other candidates in Billingham North complained that mobile shouldn’t have been outside a candidate’s house. Any polling station shouldn’t be placed outside a candidate’s house. House had posters urging voters to make a particular choice. Mobile could have been placed with door facing west as staff suffered an exceedingly cold wind

Whilst every effort is made to ensure mobile stations are accessible they are not ideal and do not offer suitable facilities for the electorate or staff. Alternative premises should therefore be considered. If none are available, the current location for a mobile is acceptable. Alternative premises should be considered.
