Step 1(5 mins)
T introduces some listening skills to Ss. Ask Ss to listen to the Exercise 1(page 1) twice.
Firstly, Ss try to master the main idea of the listening materials. Then choose the best answer
according to what they hear in each conversation. At last, listening to the paragraphs related to the
answers in detail.

Step 2(25 mins)
Listening and checking the answers.

Step 3(15mins)
T explains some important points of the conversations for Ss. As the following:
1)Who is the woman supposed to meet?

2)It’s developing at a tremendous speed.

          5) How much will Mr. Watson pay for the service/

Step2 (15 mins)
Ss listen to a short passage. Fill in the blanks with the words they heard in the tape.

Ss listen to the Speaking Out (page 2-4).Pay attention to the pronunciation and useful expressions.

Step 1 (5 mins)
Ask Ss to reading and translating the useful expression from page4 to 5

Step 2 (10 mins)
Ss answer the following questions:

Step 1 (20mins)
Student A acts the secretary of Shanghai Arts and Crafts Import and Export Corporation and
student B a businessman from Australia. A is meeting B at the airport. The conversation should
include greeting, asking about flight, thanks for meeting him at the airport.

Step 2 (20mins)
Students A is going to book a second class, 20-day return ticket to London for Nov. 25, and
student B acts a clerk working in the airline ticket booking office. The conversation should include
such information as which flight A wants, when the plane takes off, how long it takes, whether it
is a direct flight and how much the fare is.

Step 3 ( 5 mins)
The teacher makes comments on the students’ working and corrects their mistakes and points out
the shortcomings.

Step 1. introduction of resume ( 20mins)
1) General introduction
A formal document which identifies a person, outlines professional goals, describes work history
and educational background, and identifies other activities, memberships in professional
associations, etc., which are relevant to a career. It is a tool by which you market or sell your skills
and expertise to a potential employer.

2) How to Make a Resume
Know different resume formats.
Use action-oriented words/phrases like: "responsible for" "oversaw" "managed," etc. For example:
"Responsible for file management." Write short and simple sentence. Avoid too much detail. The
details can be covered in your interview.
Make sure you don’t crowd too much onto the page. Keep the resume to one page. YRIS原则:
Your resume is scanned, not read. You want your resume to be clean, neat and professional. Do
not include such things as your favorite color. Feel free to leave out what you feel is not necessary,
have other more relevant experience to draw from.
The top of the page should list your contact information.
After listing a company and a title, elaborate briefly with 2 sentences; one explaining what the
company does, and another explaining your situation there (i.e. team enviro, manager, group
involved with). Not everyone knows what a Project Manager at ABC Inc does.
After that, list bullet points that start with past tense verbs explaining your achievements,
functions and roles there.
Include dates of employment, month and year. Chronological resumes with no gaps in
employment carry more weight in many employers’ eyes.
Once you are comfortable with the text and layout of your resume, print it on good quality paper.
Fancy papers are nice, but it’s the content of your resume that employers care about.
To be honest and responsible for your information, state the facts and no exaggeration and lies. Do
not exaggerate your qualifications. If you lie, it can have ugly consequences later. However,
Make sure to check your spelling. And most grammar checkers are not a good idea. If you are
weak in spelling and grammar, ask a friend or trusted professional to help you.

Introduction to the letter of credit and bill of exchange
Letter of credit: 信用证是银行用以保证买方或者进口方有支付能力的凭证。
在国际贸易活动中,买卖双方可能互不信任,买方担心预付款后,卖方不按合同要求发货
;卖方也担心在发货或提交货运单据后买方不付款。因此需要两家银行做为买卖双方的保
证人,代为收款交单,以银行信用代替商业信用。银行在这一活动中所使用的工具就是信
用证。信用证是银行有条件保证付款的证书,成为国际贸易活动中常见的结算方式。按照
这种结算方式的一般规定,买方先将货款交存银行,由银行开立信用证,通知异地卖方开
户银行转告卖方,卖方按合同和信用证规定的条款发货,银行代买方付款。
信用证是一种开证银行根据申请人(进口方)的要求和申请,向受益人(出口方)开立的
有一定金额、在一定期限内凭汇票和出口单据,在指定地点付款的书面保证。信用证是开
证行向受益人作出的付款承诺,使受益人有了收款的保障,因此是对受益人有利的支付方
式。但是受益人只有在按信用证规定提供了信用证要求的单据时才能得到款项,因此信用
证是银行的有条件的付款承诺。
