It really is amazing how quickly summer disappears. In a matter of blinks, the
leaves are starting to turn and evening walks are much cooler than they were just
a week ago. Guess what? Winter is coming and that means season passes are
on sale at Mount Washington!

“Our Early Bird Season Pass campaign is in full swing,” states Season Pass
Coordinator Maureen Thomson. “Now is the time buy and save up to 20 percent
off regular season rates.”
Mount Washington's early bird rates last until September 30. If you're looking to
spend more time on the snow this winter, the time to get your pass is now! Rates
increase to regular season pricing on October 1.

When compared to buying day tickets each time you head up the mountain, a
Season Pass offers unbeatable value. The break-even for an Alpine Pass (full
season, 7 days a week) is 14 days. For Midweek passholders, the break-even is
a mere 7 days.

“You get a sense of freedom with a season pass,” explains mountain
spokesperson Brent Curtain. “You can come up when you want and leave when
you want versus the sense of urgency you sometimes get while skiing on a day
ticket. It really does create a better sense of well-being during the winter months.”

How do you beat the winter blahs and get that better sense of well being? To
start, more time on the mountain keeps you fit and active, plus it can increase
your daily dose of vitamin D. Over the course of an Island winter, the weather up
in the mountains is statistically sunnier than many long, dreary winter days along
the coast.

“There were long stretches of sunny days last winter when Mount Washington
was above the clouds and basking in sunshine when compared to the rest of the
Island,” Curtain adds.

Mount Washington's Season Pass options are varied and offer something for
every type of snow slider. If you want it all, then go for the Gold Pass. Alpine is
your no-frills option for skiing or boarding while Midweek offers value for those
looking to ride during non-peak periods. If you're a Student, Super Senior,
Snowshoer, Cross Country skier or if you like to ride nights, there's a pass in the
lineup for you!

New this season is the Rookie Year. Rookie Year is a ground breaking all-
inclusive season pass designed specifically for kids who are first-time skiers and
boarders.

The Rookie provides kids with an unlimited Season Pass, unlimited ski or
snowboard rentals, plus unlimited afternoon group lessons in Mountain Kids- all
season long. Children 12 years of age or younger who have never skied or
snowboarded before qualify for the Rookie Year; there's no better way to
discover the world of snow!

So the time is now to get the Early Bird rate for your season pass. Be sure to
check out the additional savings with family discounts. To purchase your pass,
head to MyMW, the mountain's online store, at mountwashington.ca. All online
season pass purchases will be entered into a draw to win back the cost of the
season pass for the 2013/14 winter season.
The mountain is also heading to various locations via the Season Pass
Roadshow- Courtenay on September 20-21, Campbell River on September 22,
Nanaimo on September 29 and Victoria on September 28. For locations and
more information, head to mountwashington.ca. You can also head up the
mountain for some fresh air and visit the Season Pass office between 9am and
4pm daily!

Mount Washington Alpine Resort is located 30 minutes above The Comox Valley
