This Forum provides an outstanding opportunity for re-uniting with “old” friends and makes new ones, for exchanging new ideas and gaining better understandings on a broad range of disciplines related to plate subduction and exhumation. Join us in Xining and enjoy the multi cultures, people, languages, senary and food as well. During this field trip to the North Qilian Mountains you will examine lawsonite-bearing blueschists and eclogites which mark the subduction/collision zone between the Qilian Block and the Alax Block. An ophiolite complex and an island-arc complex will also be examined. This trip will provide you an unprecedented opportunity to enjoy the impressive scenery of the grass mountains in the northern Tibet Plateau with elevations of 2500-5000m. Mountain boots, sun glasses, and sun-tan lotion as well as the warm sweaters, waterproof and windproof clothes are strongly recommended. B) Geochronology and geochemistry of subduction-zone metamorphism. C) HP-UHP metamorphic fluids and melts: natural and experimental studies. D) Orogenic peridotites: protolith nature, metamorphism and metasomatism, mantle geodynamics. E) From structure geology to tectonics of HP-UHP belts. F) Understanding subduction/collision processes: (1) HP-UHP terranes in Western China; (2) other HP-UHP terranes in the world.
