New Spirit on Milford Sound $1 million refurbishment has customers in mind
Bigger better views and more creature comforts are the order of the day aboard the Milford Sound Red Boat Cruises vessel formerly known as the Lady Stirling. The 26 metre steel catamaran has undergone a $1 million bow to stern refurbishment and to celebrate her refit, Milford Sound Red Boat Cruises has re-christened the catamaran the Spirit of Milford. Red Boats’ Operations Manager John Robson said every aspect of the refurbishment had the customer top of mind. “We are dedicated to providing our customers with the best experience every time and this refit, which incorporates recommendations made by our staff who work on the boat, is very much part of delivering that promise,” he said. “Visitors come here from all four corners of the world to see the spectacular natural scenery of Milford Sound and to ensure they get a real eyeful we’ve installed larger windows that are virtually deck to ceiling in many areas. “Added to this, the passenger cabins now feature a modern décor and they are more spacious with better seating and a nicer food service area. Stairways are wider, there’s improved access to the viewing area on the foredeck and even the toilets have been upgraded.” Milford Sound is part of the World Heritage Fiordland National Park and has been described as the 8th Natural Wonder of the World. Mitre Peak, which towers over the Sound is an icon of New Zealand scenery and there’s no better way to experience the majesty of this unspoilt location than on a Milford Sound Red Boat Cruise. Four vessels offer daily departures with cruise options of various durations. The fleet includes The Pride of Milford, a state-of-the art catamaran that has been designed with extensive viewing decks where passengers can enjoy the magnificent scenery in total relaxation and comfort.
