SOUTHWEST WATERFRONT FIREWORKS FESTIVAL FEATURES EIGHT HOURS
      OF ENTERTAINMENT PRIOR TO FIREWORKS SPECTACULAR

Washington, DC [March 4, 2013] -- On Saturday, April 6 enjoy the Southwest Waterfront Fireworks Festival
from 1:00-9:00pm (rain or shine). Located from 6th to 9th Streets along Water Street, SW, the event is
produced by the National Cherry Blossom Festival, Washington Waterfront Association and Hoffman-Madison
Waterfront and presented by Safeway and The Washington Examiner. The Southwest Waterfront is easily
accessible by Metro’s Orange, Blue, Yellow and Green lines to L’Enfant Plaza or Metro’s Green line to
Waterfront-SEU. The event is also an easy ride on the Metro Bus or on a bicycle via Capital Bikeshare to
Water Street, SW. Media partners are BIG 100.3 and HOT 99.5

The Southwest Waterfront community, home of the cherry blossoms, honors the nation’s greatest springtime
celebration with eight hours of free entertainment at four performance areas, live music, water-related
activities, cultural experiences and delicious foods. The festival concludes with a Fireworks Spectacular over
the historic Washington Channel.

Kastles’ Stadium at The Wharf
Located at 800 Water Street, SW, a waterfront arena with multiple outdoor areas, showcasing:
      ♦ 1:00-8:30 pm: Cherry Blossom Stage supported by Navy Federal Credit Union and Pepsi-Cola
              1:00pm: US Navy Band and Presentation of the Colors by a Joint Color Guard
              2:15pm: Blue Tips Rhythm Revue
              4:15pm: JohnStone Reggae Band
              6:00pm: US Army Band’s “Downrange”
              7:30pm: US Army Blues
      ♦ 1:30-8:30pm: Food Truck Rally presented by Safeway, with the District’s culinary favorites ♦ 1:30-
8:30pm: Cherry Blossom Waterfront Beer Garden supported by Kirin Brewery

The Washington Channel Stage—presented by Entertainment Cruises and Cantina Marina
Located at 700 Water Street, SW, the Washington Channel stage will serve as the backdrop for:
      ♦ 2:00 and 4:00pm: John H. Glenn Fireboat spectacular
      ♦ 2-5:00pm: Paddleboard demonstrations, Dragon Boat excursions, DC Sail sailing activities
      ♦ 7:00pm: Grand Waterfront Illumination from floating lanterns and vessels along the seawall
      ♦ 7:30pm: Nen Daiko Japanese Drummers welcome lighted swimming Koi into the Channel
      ♦ 8:00pm: Imaginative Pink Prelude to the fireworks display

The National Cherry Blossom Festival is the nation’s greatest springtime celebration. The 2013 Festival, March
 20 – April 14, includes three spectacular weeks and four weekends of events featuring diverse and creative
 programming promoting traditional and contemporary arts and culture, natural beauty, and community spirit.
    The 2013 Festival commemorates the 101st anniversary of the gift of the cherry blossom trees and the
                    enduring friendship between the people of the United States and Japan.
