Magnetic Pigment 345 BASF
CAS number EINECS number Colour Index Chemical nature Toxicology 1309-38-2 215-169-8 Pigment Black 11 / 77 499 iron[II[/iron[III] oxide (magnetite), does not contain crystalline silica In animal studies, iron oxide pigments did not display acute toxicity. No acute irritant effect was shown in tests to determine the acute irritation of skin and mucous membranes. Extreme exposure to dust may cause a brief irritation of the eyes by mechanical influence. Iron oxides are natural constituents of virtually every type of natural stone and soil. Magnetic Pigment 345 BASF is inert and practically insoluble and thus does not represent a hazard to the environment. The pigment can be mechanically removed from effluents. If disposed of in a waste dump, no dissolved heavy metals are released into the seepage water. WGK 0, no hazard to waters (VwVwS of May 17, 1999, annex 3) Germany Labeling according to the German Ordinance on dangerous substances or corresponding EU directives: no labeling required

not hazardous under transport regulation No lead, cadmium or hexavalent chromium have intentionally been added to Magnetic Pigment 345 BASF. Analyses of representative standard samples have shown that the sum of the total content of these elements is less than 100 mg/kg and thus below the limit laid down in the EU Directive on packaging and packaging waste, 94/62/EC, and the American CONEG model. On average, the content of technically unavoidable impurities are as follows: antimony arsenic cadmium chromium cobalt copper < 5 mg/kg < 3 mg/kg < 10 mg/kg 50 mg/kg < 20 mg/kg < 20 mg/kg lead nickel mercury selenium zinc < 20 mg/kg 50 mg/kg < 1 mg/kg < 1 mg/kg 50 mg/kg
