Uvinul 5050 H
light stabilizer CAS number EINECS number 152261-33-1 Pursuant to chemical legislation this polymer does not require notification according to OECD polymer definition. sterically hindered amine (HALS), oligomeric Uvinul® 5050 H does not have any acute toxic effects applied orally and by inhalation in animal trials. No irritation of the skin or mucous membranes was observed. Mutagenicity tests revealed no genotoxic potential. In a 90 day feeding study with a dose of 1060 mg/day/kg for male and 1214 mg/day/kg for female rats the product shows no toxic effects. Uvinul® 5050 H is practically insoluble in water and displays no toxic effects on fish and bacteria. It is not readily biodegradable. It can be removed mechanically from effluents. Incineration is the preferred method of disposal. Also, the requirements of the EU Directive on end-of-life vehicles 2000/53/EC are met. Uvinul® 5050 H

Halogen content Food legislation

Uvinul® 5050 H does not contain any halogens. Approval according to the German BfR Recommendations III “Polyethylene” and VII “Polypropylene” with a concentration of 0.5 %. Approval in the EU has been applied for. Uvinul® 5050 H has a Food Contact Notification (FCN) by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This FDA registration applies to the product made by BASF only. Consequently, Uvinul® 5050 H can be used for articles to come into contact with foodstuffs. These include woven fiber bags such as Big Bags, flour or corn bags as well as packaging films and milk cartons. The requirements and definitions laid down in 21 CFR 177.1520 of FDA must be observed when Uvinul® 5050 H is used in polyolefins in contact with food. Uvinul® 5050 H does not fall under the provisions of the Agreement on chemical weapons and does not contain any substances that are mentioned in the German Ordinance on the prohibition of certain chemicals (ChemVerbotsV). No substances destroying ozone are used in the manufacture (Montreal Protocol on ozone-depleting substances). para 3.1.3 – total dust (Germany) The general threshold value for dust, i. e., 3 mg/m³, must be observed (alveolar passing dust fraction – TRGS 900) (Germany)
