PARKS
Beech Street Park, a vest pocket park located at the corner of Mill Street and Beech Street with a children‟s play area. Frank Fullerton Memorial Park, located at Third Street and Zelley Avenue. Facilities include two lighted tennis courts, a basketball court, a Little League baseball field, and a children‟s play area. Jeff Young Memorial Park, located adjacent to the New Albany Road Recreation Center on New Albany Road. Facilities include three lighted tennis courts, two lighted basketball courts, a lighted street hockey rink, children‟s play area, and two lighted softball fields. Maple-Dawson Park, located on the corner of Maple Avenue and Dawson Street. Facilities include four lighted tennis courts, two lighted basketball courts, and a play area for children. Connected by a walkway/bikeway is an athletic field, called West End Field with a backstop, benches, and bleachers. Salem Road Park, located on the corner of Hartford and Salem Roads, this is a 15-acre park and athletic field complex, consisting of two lighted Little League fields, one lighted regulation soccer field, one 8 X 8 soccer field, a children‟s play area, a bike path/walkway system, concession stand/rest room building, and parking area. Strawbridge Lake Park, a 70-acre park area which is located between Haines Drive and Kings Highway. Facilities include picnic areas, the availability for fishing (permits required for those over 14 years old; available at most sporting goods stores), walking/jogging paths, and a children‟s play area. Wesley Bishop Park, 16-acre athletic field complex located on North Church Street. Facilities include four lighted multipurpose fields, a turf field, a lighted regulation baseball field, two lighted softball fields, two lighted street hockey rinks, a skate park, a children‟s play area, a concession stand/restroom building, and three parking areas. The parking areas are located (from the South entrance) next to the hockey rink #2, and also (from the North entrance) next to the street hockey rink #1 and adjacent to the lower multi-purpose field. Yancy-Adams Park, a vest pocket park that serves as a promenade to West End Field. PERMITS: Permits are required for the use of the fields. Residents may apply for a permit by completing a facility request form available at the Department of Parks and Recreation Office or you may obtain a request form on the Township website at (www.moorestown.nj.us) Summer Program ‟08 Page 2

SUMMER PROGRAM AT THE PARKS
OPENING DATE: Tuesday, June 24, 2008 CLOSING DATE: Friday, August 1, 2008 Parks Sites: Baker School–Located at Maple Avenue and Dawson Street Frank Fullerton Park-Located at Third and Zelley Avenues Jeff Young Park-Located at the New Albany Road Recreation Center on New Albany Road Roberts School- Located at Mary Roberts School on Crescent Avenue Salem Road Park-Located at Salem and Hartford Roads The Summer Parks Program will offer a wide variety of activities at all five sites, including games, sports, arts and crafts, special events, and a series of field trips. The program is for Moorestown youth ages 5 through 12. Parks will operate for the six-week schedule, Monday through Friday with the exception of the Independence Day holiday on July 4th. Hours: 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM

REGISTRATION: Registration will take place from May 12th through May 23rd 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday at 2 Executive Drive or can be mailed along with payment to Department of Parks and Recreation, 2 Executive Drive, Suite 9A, Moorestown, NJ 08057. The cost for six weeks is $30.00. INCLEMENT The parks programs will be available rain or shine during the WEATHER hours indicated. The Church Street Recreation Center will be PROCEDURE: used on rainy days to accommodate the Fullerton and Salem Road Parks VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES – COUNSELORS IN TRAINING PROGRAM (C.I.T)- A threeweek program for students ages 13-15 during the Summer Parks Program from June 24th through August 1st. The program offers the opportunity for students to work on a volunteer basis with the Department of Parks and Recreation staff. If interested, complete an application form and return it to the Department of Parks and Recreation Office, 2 Executive Drive, Suite 9A. Applications are available at the Office or at the Township Library. FIELD TRIPS: A series of full and half-day field trips will be offered this summer in connection with the Parks Program. The cost of each trip will include bus transportation and entrance fees. Completion of the attached individual flyers with more detailed information regarding specific trips should be returned along with payment (payable to the Township of Moorestown) during the registration period. BICYCLE REGISTRATION – In cooperation with the Moorestown Police Department, children will have the opportunity at their parks site to have their bikes inspected and registered with the police department and entered into the national database in case of theft. All bikes should be equipped with a light, reflectors, and a horn or bell. All riders must have a helmet. Summer Program ‟08 Page 3

ANNUAL CARNIVAL(1:30-3:00 PM): Will be held on the grounds at Perkins Center for the Arts beginning with ticket distribution at 1:15 PM on Tuesday, July 29th. Tickets are free, and many popular game booths such as bean bag toss, soccer stop, and pie throwing, as well as face painting and refreshments will be available to carnival-goers. Transportation not provided. Rain date: Wednesday, July 30th. TRACK AND FIELD CLINICS: This will be available to participants that are registered for the Summer Parks Program. Athletes are coached in sprinting, hurdling, jumping, relays, throwing events, and conditioning. Ageappropriate equipment is used. Skills are taught at small drill stations with one-on-one coaching. Academy Director, Troy Pappas, is the Head Coach of the Moorestown High School Spring Track Team. The cost per clinic is $ 10.00 and includes round trip bus transportation from your child‟s parks site to Moorestown High School. The track clinics will be held on July 8, 9, 15, 16, 21, and 23. TEEN/ADULT OUTING – DORNEY PARK – Will be held on Saturday, July 19th. The bus will leave from the Church Street Recreation Center parking lot at 9:30 AM and will return by approximately 10:00 PM. Registrations should be returned to the Department of Parks and Recreation office along with the $50.00 fee (payable to the Township of Moorestown) on or before July 11th. SUMMER PARKS OPEN SWIM: Held on Monday through Friday at the Moorestown Community House Pool, the program is offered for children ages 5 through 15 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Lifeguard will be on duty. Cost: $2.00 per hour. SUMMER THEATER: The 2008 Children's Summer Theater Program, for Moorestown residents ages 7 to 15, begins June 23rd through August 2nd. This year‟s production is Willy Wonka, Jr. Participants will be involved in all phases of producing a musical show--from auditions through production. Participants will receive a practice schedule. The production dates are 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 30 and Thursday, July 31 and 7:30 PM on August 1st and August 2nd. Tickets will be available starting July 23rd at the Department of Parks and Recreation Office or at the door. Adults: $7.00, Children and Senior Citizen: $5.00--Matinee,$4.00/$3.00. SUMMER CONCERTS:

Musical entertainment for the whole family beginning July 9th(schedule to be announced). Free concerts held on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 PM At Perkins Center for the Arts, Kings Highway and Camden Avenue. In case of rain concerts will be held on the Thursday evening following the scheduled date. Bring your own lawn chairs.

SWIMMING - COMMUNITY HOUSE: Public Swim - For the entire family through August 1st and 2nd (with the exception of July 4th and July 5th) Residents - Children $3.00 per hour Adults $4.00 per hour Non-Residents - Children $4.00 per hour Adults $5.00 per hour Times: Friday evenings 7 to 10 PM Saturday afternoons - 2 to 4 PM SUMMER SWIM CLINICS: Saturdays – Two five-week sessions at the Community House Pool designed to familiarize children ages 6 through 12 with the water. Lessons are offered for beginners (Non-swimmer) at 9:00 AM, Novice swimmers (able to swim the width of the pool) at 10:00 AM, and Intermediates (able to swim the length of the pool) at 11:00 AM. Session I will be conducted from June 7th through July 12th (no clinic on 7/5) and Session II will run from July 19th through August 16th. Class size is limited to fifteen. FREE PASS CLUB: The Department offers coupons good for free roller skating at the International Sports and Skating Center in Mount Laurel (available Saturdays and Sundays 6/1-9/1). Also, in connection with the Playdrome Bowling Center, participants can pick up a Kidz Klub Family card enabling them to register to bowl one free game, with half price shoe rental every day during the summer months. Instructor:Brian Feldschneider,PGA Golf Professional,Willowbrook Golf Club PHILLIES HOME RUN DERBY – Held on Friday, May 16th (Rain date 5/30) at Jeff Young Park starting at 5:30 PM. The contest is open to Moorestown boys and girls ages 7-12. The girls‟ competition will feature the use of a softball. Contestants will receive ten good pitches and points will be scored for all fair balls hit, distance hits, and homeruns. Boys and girls ages 7 and 8 should report to the field at 5:30 PM, ages 9 and 10 at 6:15 PM, and ages 11 and 12 at 7:00 PM. First, Second and Third Place winner in each category will receive an engraved plaque and go on to compete in the regional final to be held later in the summer. ADULT WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: The informal pick-up basketball program will continue through the month of May for Moorestown women on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Church Street Recreation Center. All equipment will be provided. Proof of residency is required, and the registration fee is $10.00 per player. ADULT CO-ED SOFTBALL LEAGUE: An adult co-ed softball league is currently forming for play on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Jeff Young Park fields at 8:00 PM. SPRING/SUMMER TEEN and ADULT TAE BO: A program that combines martial arts and boxing with aerobic dancing to create a complete body sculpting, fat blasting, workout that is fun and pushes its participants to their ultimate fitness level. The six week course will be held on Tuesday or Wednesday nights from 7:30-8:30 PM on the Third Floor of the Church Recreation Center. The program starts May 20th or May 22nd. SPRING/SUMMER TEEN and ADULT YOGA: Will be held Wednesday or Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 7:15 PM. All classes will be conducted through July 31st in a series of eight-week lessons on the Third Floor of the Church Street Recreation Center. The cost per series is $55.00 or $12.00 per class. Instructor: Debbie Thompson HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS’ FIELD HOCKEY (Grades 10, 11, and 12): Field hockey drills and pick-up games run by Moorestown High School incoming seniors in preparation for the fall season. Some conditioning included. There will be very little adult instruction, but some current college players may assist when available. The program is for developed players who intend to play field hockey in high school. Bring stick, turf shoes, mouth guard, and shin guards. YOUTH SUMMER BASKETBALL LEAGUE (Grades 2 through 9) – Held at Maple-Dawson Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 5:30 and 9:30 PM from June 24th through July 31st. Leagues broken down into three age groups (2-4, 5-6, 79). Fee: $110.00 payable to the Township of Moorestown. CHALLENGE BASEBALL TEAM (Special Needs)-Held for ages 7-21 on Sundays from 12:30-2:30 PM April 13th through June 15th at Fullerton Memorial Park. The emphasis is on fun and basic skill development. FAMILY RIVERSHARKS GAME (Special Needs): – Held on June 6th at Campbell‟s Field, watch the Camden Riversharks face the York Revolution as well as a fireworks display. Game time is 7:05 PM, and the cost is $8.00. FAMILY NIGHT ROLLER SKATING (Special Needs): Will be available as a private group party at the International Sports Center at a cost of $5.50 per person on Wednesday evenings May 14, June 18, July 16, and August 13 from 6:30-8:30 PM The party package also includes skate rental, the Fun Zone, Adventure Alley, and the Moon Bounce. SENIOR CITIZEN TRIP SERIES: - May 5th to Washington, D.C. Departs from the Peter Pan Bakery Parking area at 8:30 AM and return at 6:30 PM. The day includes a visit to the Word War II Memorial and lunch at Phillip‟s Seafood Restaurant. Fee: $35.00 per person (checks payable to Evergreen Women‟s Club). Upcoming trip to Radio City Music Hall in November. SENIOR CITIZENS BOOK CLUB - Held on the second Monday of the month at 1:00 PM. TREE WALKING TOURS – The Tree Planting and Preservation Committee is looking for residents interested in helping to conduct a tree inventory. Walking tours are planned for all who would like to contribute to this effort or would like to learn more about the Township‟s trees. COMMITTEES
Senior Citizens - Meetings are being held monthly September through May at various sites in town. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 20th 10:30 AM, (The Evergreens). Teens – Meetings are open to all teens of middle and high school age. Volunteer opportunities in planning events are available. The planning meetings for the Teen Clean-Up Parks will be held Wednesday, April 30th and Tuesday, May 27th at 1:50 PM at the High School Star Center. Individuals - The newly organized committee whose purpose is developing With programming for citizens with special needs. The next Disabilities meeting is May 21st, 7:30 PM at the New Albany Road Recreation Center. MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY

Held on Monday, May 28th at 10:00 AM at Memorial Field on South Church Street. The ceremony includes speakers, Moorestown Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts, music, and the traditional flag-raising/salute and National Anthem, along with honoring those who gave the ultimate sacrifice by placing flowers at the memorial site as the names are read aloud.

For all programs that require a fee: A registration form may be obtained either at the Department of Parks and Recreation Office at 2 Executive Drive or may be downloaded off the Moorestown Township (Department of Parks and Recreation website at www.moorestown.nj.us/parks_recreation. The form is located under “Programs” and is entitled “2008 Summer Program Registration Sheet”. Registrations, along with payment, may be brought to the Department Office (2 Executive Drive, Suite 9B) or may be mailed to 2 Executive Drive, Suite 9A, Moorestown, New Jersey, 08057, Attention: Department of Parks and Recreation.
