A letter to the Sydney Morning Herald on "The Trouble in Samoa", when Young was living in Sydney. A paper on German expansion in the Pacific, written in Tahiti. Half a dozen letters and memoranda on the state of the Pitcairn Islanders, exchanged between Young and the British Consulate, Tahiti. A letter from Young in Tahiti. Several articles by Young on Bully Hayes. Comments by Young on an unknown author's typescript dealing with the history of Tahiti. A document of 13 quarto pages headed "Memos. from the Notebooks of J.L. Young." This gives a summary of the main events in Young's career in the Eastern Pacific to the 1890's.
