									ENTREPRENEURSHIP Wheel of Function
Course Title: Project Name: Entrepreneurship Wheel of Function

Three Hours Objectives: Students will be able to name the nine functions of marketing and give a brief explanation and description of each. Materials Needed: poster board, markers, glue, magazines, clip art software, scissors and a brass fastener Resources Needed: textbook, notes over the nine functions, and the evaluation sheet for the project Student Handouts: Evaluation sheet, transparencies Interdisciplinary Involvement: Marketing Background Information: There are nine functions to marketing that are essential to the success of any business. Later in this course you will develop a business plan for the business you own. This project serves as an introduction to your business plan. Step-by-Step Instructions:      On the computer, make a pie chart with nine equal parts. Each part will represent a different function. Each part of the chart will need to have the function listed, a short explanation of the function, and five pictures from clip art or magazines that explain that function. (See Hint below) After you have completed the wheel, cut out the wheel and made a duplicate copy that does not include the functions and other information. You will have a blank circle. From the blank circle, cut out a slice of the circle that corresponds with one of the functions on the first wheel. Punch a hole in the center of the wheels and attach with the brass fastener.

Example: The first part of the chart might represent distribution. Distribution will be listed on that part of the chart along with a short definition of distribution. There might be a clip art picture of a ship, train, warehouse, airplane and a truck. These pictures represent the different means of transportation of products as well as how and where you choose to store the products.

Hint: The larger the wheel the easier the project will be. In order to enlarge the wheel you might try saving the chart to the clipboard and pasting it into a graphics or design program. Assessment Options: (see evaluation sheet) The students will be evaluated in the following seven areas: 1. Project turned in by deadline 2. Neatness and organization 3. Colorful and attractive 4. Functions define accurately 5. Correct spelling and grammar 6. Minimum of five illustrations per function 7. Wheel functions properly

Also included is how and where the products are stored.  Risk Management: Risk management is preventing or reducing business loss. Such risks can include accidents, competition, and natural risks, such as floods and fire.

Each part of the chart will need to have the function listed, a short explanation of the function, and five pictures from clip art or magazines that explain that function. The front of the wheel must contain the name the project and your name. For example: The first part of the chart will represent distribution. Distribution will be listed on that part of the chart along with a short definition of distribution. There will be a picture of a ship, train, warehouse, airplane, and truck. These pictures represent the different means of transportation of products as well as how and where you choose to store the products. The larger you make the wheel, the easier the project will be. In order to enlarge your wheel, you might try saving it to the clipboard of the word processor and pasting it into a graphics or design program.
