I want to apply my experience in the IT industry to the process of learning, whether in schools, libraries or museums or in a company that serves these sectors. I have managed programmers, designed systems, and helped customers in both the commercial software and applications environments for twenty years. To prepare for the transition from commercial to learning systems, I have taken a hiatus to earn a degree with the UNC School of Information & Library Science, and engaged in two research projects, listed below.
XML Search Engine Developed a search engine driven by RDF based retrieval schemas to index collections of one or more SGML and XML database, and rank and retrieve all or parts of documents. Version 2 server is being rewritten in Perl 5 in Unix/Linux environment.
