HEALTH HAZARD DATA Eyes , Skin, Ingestion, Inhalation May cause eye/skin irritation. Chronic dermal exposure may cause irritation or allergic dermatitis. Chronic inhalation exposure may result in allergic reaction or in neurotoxic or nephrotoxic effects. Effects from ingestion are not established. Hypersensitivity to neomycin or to other animoglycosides. Persons with impaired renal function have a greater risk of nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity resulting from exposure to neomycin.

EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES Flush with water for 15 minutes. Hold eyelids open to assure complete contact with water. Wash with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing. Remove from exposure. Contact a physician or poison control center. Nephrotoxicity and/or neurotoxicity (including ototoxicity) following oral administration of neomycin has been reported in the literature. Neuromuscular blockage and respiratory paralysis have resulted in patients receiving oral neomycin, especially in conjunction with administration of anesthetics, neuromuscular blocking agents or massive transfusion of citrate anticoagulated blood. Calcium salts may reverse these conditions, but mechanical respiratory assistance may be necessary. REACTIVITY DATA
