Chair
NEW PROGRAMS COMMITTEE: Research, analyze and make recommendations to the WPTO membership on new programs, fundraisers or expenditures; or significant changes to existing programs or fundraisers. Ongoing GENERAL VOLUNTEER: Your name will be placed on a list and you may be contacted by committee chairs who are in need of additional volunteers, or by the WPTO Officers to assist with special projects not covered by the above committees (i.e. picture day.) A great way to get involved!!!

Student Enrichment
ASSEMBLIES: Beginning in Spring 2009 research, evaluate and contract assemblies for the 2008-2009 school year. Present assembly options to teachers at a Parent Teacher Liaison Committee meeting. Staff/support assembly presenters. Assist student teachers and interns with school academic fairs. These events are created and staffed by student teachers, someone from the WPTO may need to guide them and approve funding for the event. Ongoing SCHOOL STORE: Coordinate the operations of the school store, including ordering merchandise, scheduling volunteers and assisting students with purchases. Ongoing filled

HOLIDAY STORE: Coordinate the operations of the holiday store, including ordering filled merchandise, scheduling volunteers and assisting students with purchases. One time event - Dec. co-chair needed to be trained for following yr CARNEGIE MUSEUM LOAN PROGRAM: Coordinate requests for loans from the filled Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. Flexible scheduling on an as-needed basis. Ongoing BOOK FAIR: Organize and coordinate a Fall and possible Spring Book Fair. Many volunteers are needed to during the Book Fair. Social, Family Events, and School Spirit
SOCIAL COMMITTEE: Promote school spirit and friendships by planning and organizing social functions which allow students and families to gather and have fun! Single events 1. Pizza/Bingo Night (October) 2. Ice Skating Night (January) 3. Ice Cream/Social Event (fall) 4. Pirates Baseball Night (May) SPIRIT COMMITTEE: Promote school spirit by encouraging students to wear green on Spirit Day and award prizes to winning classrooms and students. Also responsible for other spirit generating activities. Ongoing POPCORN COMMITTEE: Pop and distribute popcorn on Spirit Day. Ongoing FIELD DAY: With the gym teachers, organize this school-wide Spring outdoor event. Single THIRD GRADE END OF YEAR EVENT: Coordinate a single 3rd grade end of year recognition event. Single YEARBOOK COMMITTEE: Coordinate and distribute a yearbook of class and student photos. Responsibilities include vendor selection and purchase coordination. Single GRANDPARENTS/GRANDFRIENDS DAY: Assist Principal with this 1-2 day event by organizing volunteers to greet and guide guests and provide refreshments. Single filled filled filled filled filled

Parent Communication
DIRECTORY: Gather information on school families & publish the school directory. Single WPTO WEB PAGE: Maintain and continue the development of a WPTO Web page within the Pine-Richland web site to be available to all Wexford families. Ongoing OPEN HOUSE: Arrange for food and volunteers to set up/clean up at this event. Single filled filled

Teacher Support
BEHIND THE SCENES: Provide clerical support for teachers by staffing the school's workroom. Ongoing PARENT-TEACHER LIAISON COMMITTEE: Attend monthly afterschool meetings with teacher representative from each grade to discuss WPTO events and ideas. Chair should attend WPTO meetings in order to update the WPTO on progress of the P/T Liaison Committee and also to update the P/T Liaison Committee on information gathered from the WPTO meetings. Ongoing TEACHER APPRECIATION COMMITTEE: Organize food and volunteers for May and December teacher appreciation events. Two Single Events filled

Community Connection
OUTREACH: Plan and organize school-wide service projects to give our children a sense of giving, sharing and community pride. Examples include annual Giving Tree, leaf raking or clean up efforts. Ongoing RAM READER: Coordinate the reading enhancement program for our school. Select charity to receive contributions, communicate reading challenges to students/teachers, determine eligibility awards, coordinate final distribution of donations. Two single events FINGERPRINTING: Organize annual fingerprinting for first graders. Single WELCOMING COMMITTEE: Assist school administration with the "New Kids Tea" in August and the Spring as needed. Welcome new families and invite participation in the WPTO. Attend WPTO meetings, greet/introduce people and promote social interaction. Ongoing with emphasis on one or two events filled

Fundraising
FUNDRAISERS: Plan and organize Wexford’s fundraisers. Distribute information to students on the products available for sale. Collect orders/money and distribute the merchandise. Total number of single fundraising events to be determined MARKET DAY: Coordinate the monthly ordering and distribution of Market Day goods. Communicate and promote Market Day products to families, teachers and staff. After school hours. Ongoing NOTEPADS TO SCHOOL: Organize purchase, sales and delivery of notepads used to send notes to school. Ongoing (sales may occur 1-3 times per year) VENDOR PROGRAMS: Coordinate participation in "cash-back" incentive programs such as Target Credit Card, Giant Eagle receipts, BoxTops and ink cartridge recycling. Ongoing SPIRIT WEAR: Responsible for “Spirit Wear” sales in the fall. Two single sales events. filled
