Message from the President by twincities

									October 10, 2013

Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to share with you that I will enter retirement at the end of June 2014. At that
time I will have worked 38 years in public higher education, I will have concluded my
current contract as President of Metropolitan State University, and I will have celebrated
my 66th birthday. It has been a great joy and privilege to serve as the President of
Metropolitan State University and to witness the extraordinary education that transpires
between our students and faculty and staff. During our time together, the University has
grown in enrollments, stature, and physical facilities. I have been delighted to see
numerous Metropolitan State students, faculty, staff and programs recognized locally,
statewide or nationally for their extraordinary dedication and accomplishment. I continue
to be inspired by our mission and vision, our students, and the magic that happens between
our faculty, staff and students. It is therefore with great vigor that I will work with all of
you, with our system office, and with external constituencies in the months ahead to
prepare for and to ensure a smooth transition to the next phase of leadership and
development in this great University.
