The City of Manitowoc, WI (pop. 34,727) located on Lake Michigan, seeks an individual to serve as Director of the Rahr-West Art Museum, an AAM accredited historic mansion with an art gallery housing a collection of 20th century American art. The Director will provide leadership and direction for the museum’s collections, exhibitions, and programs. Responsibilities include supervising the museum staff of three plus indirectly supervising up to eight part-time guards, development and implementation of a collections and acquisitions strategy, oversight of exhibitions planning and installation, participation in development of education and public programs, managing the budget, fund raising, grant writing, preservation of the museum’s historic building, and maintaining AAM accreditation. The Director is a City Department Head who works closely with the museum’s Board of Directors, the Mayor, Common Council and other City departments. QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s Degree in art, business administration, museum studies, or related field plus a minimum of three years of administrative experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities for the position required. This is a full time position with excellent benefits. Minimum starting salary is $55,473.
