CARLSBURG HANDICAP DOUBLES TO BE HELD AT RAF WITTERING BOWL

VENUE AND DATE 1. The Carlsberg Handicap Doubles will be held at Wittering Bowl, RAF Wittering over the periods 31st Jan – 1st Feb and 5th – 8th Feb 2009. 2. The general playing and tournament rules of the RAFTBA will govern this event together with the following special rules. ELIGIBILTY 3. This tournament is open to all Full, Honorary & Affiliated members of the RAFTBA iaw Para 5 of the RAFTBA Constitution. 4. All Affiliated members are to ensure that they have fully paid their annual fees prior to participating in this event. 5. No person may play in this tournament except those originally entered or such replacements as authorised by the team captain and accepted by the Tournament Manager. TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE 6. The Tournament Manager will be Paul Maddock, who after consultation with the Tournament Committee has the right to reject or re-rate any entry submitted. Their decision will be final on all matters, subject to appeal to the Chairman of the RAFTBA. APPEAL & PROTESTS 7. A provisional ball must be rolled if a dispute relating to pinfall cannot be resolved immediately. Protests must be confirmed in writing to the Tournament Manager, within 72 hours of the game in which the infraction occurred. Verbal protests must be made within 30 minutes of the above. All protests must be accompanied by a payment of £5.00 as an administration fee, which will be fully refunded on the success of any protest. ENTRY FORMS & FEES 8. 9. Entries can be made via E mail to the address shown above, however, NO confirmation of requested squad times will be given until FULL payment has been received. 10. Entry fees can be paid by cheque, cash or electronic transfer (account details on request) and must accompany the entry form. In the case of electronic transfers, details of the transfer should be recorded on the completed entry form. 11. Entry forms must include the bowlers FULL name, last 3 (service personnel) or status (Affiliate members), RAFTBA number and their HIGHEST LEAGUE AVERAGE

OVER 12 GAMES OR MORE together with the centre this average was bowled in. Incorrectly compiled entry forms will be rejected and may result in a preferred squad time not being available on subsequent submission. HELP ME TO HELP YOU. 12. Entry fees will be non-returnable after squad times have been accepted. However, an entry may be sold to eligible replacements. CLOSING DATE 13. THE CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES WILL BE FRIDAY 23rd JANUARY 2009.

AVERAGES & HANDICAPS 14. Handicaps (no maximum) will be 2/3 of the difference between the accepted entering average and 210. However, the RAFTBA Tournament Manager may adjust this upper limit on a per tournament basis. Handicaps will be based on the highest average as at the closing date for entries taken from the following: a. An individual’s current seasons tournament average providing 12 games or more have been bowled at RAF/Command tournaments during the current RAF bowling season.* b. An individual’s last seasons tournament average where less than 12 games have been bowled at RAF/Command tournaments during the current RAF bowling season.* c. Any current league average over 12 games. * RAF bowling season runs from 1 Oct to 30 Sep 15. Bowlers with no established average will be allotted an entering average of 170. The Tournament Manager reserves the right to re-rate this average at any time until 12 games have been bowled. 16. Tournament entering averages will be displayed on the notice board at the start of the tournament. 17. Falsification of entering averages will lead to suspension from the RAFTBA and forfeiture of any prizes won.

FORMAT 18. The tournament will be conducted on a handicap basis throughout with an optional scratch section. Each team will comprise of 2 bowlers, and based on 40 teams will bowl the following format: Round 1 Round 2 Round 3 All teams will bowl 6 games. Top 32 teams will bowl a further 3 games. Top 16 teams will bowl a further 3 games head to head on a knockout basis with the losing team being eliminated from the competition. Top 8 teams will bowl a further 3 games head to head on a knockout basis with the losing team being eliminated from the competition. Top 4 teams will bowl a further 3 games head to head on a knockout basis with the losing team being eliminated from the competition. Top 2 teams will bowl a further 3 games head to head on a knockout basis with the losing team being eliminated from the competition.

ENTRY FEES 19. The entry fee for this tournament (based on 40 entries) will be £35 per team broken down as follows: Lineage RAFTBA Expenses Prize Fund Total Scratch Option £ 2.00 £ 22.00 £ 2.00 £ 0.50 £ 10.50 £ 35.00

The Scratch option will be over the 1st Round only. All prize monies will be returned 100%.

SQUADDING 20. Although squads will be filled on a first come first served basis, local teams will be asked to fill 1st Round squads other than those scheduled for Friday 6 th February to allow teams who are required to travel to utilise these squads. * Denotes lane dress after squad. REGISTRATION & TARDINESS 21. All Teams must register at least 30 MINUTES PRIOR to their allocated squad time. NO team will be allowed to bowl in this competition unless the entry fee has been paid prior to the start of bowling. Failure to observe these rules may result in the team being disqualified from this event. PACERS 22. Pacers are allowed, but may not subsequently compete in the Tournament.

PRACTICE BOWLING 23. There will be 5 minutes practice before each squad.

DRESS 24. Bowlers are not permitted to wear jeans, shorts (Unless otherwise stated by the Committee) or sleeveless shirts iaw the RAFTBA Constitution. Any bowler contravening these rules will be disqualified. If you are unsure then please contact the Tournament Committee who will give you a decision. CONDUCT 25. Any competitor, who in the opinion of the Tournament Committee brings the game into disrepute (e.g. bad language or suffering from excess alcohol), may be disqualified from the tournament and possible expulsion from the RAFTBA may follow.

PHOTOGRAPHS 26. Persons entering this tournament are to note that in submitting an entry and it being accepted, they give their consent to the use of any photographs taken at the tournament to be used in articles used to promote the sport of tenpin bowling within the RAF. Personnel not wishing to have such photographs used in this manner are to notify the Tournament Manager in writing prior to the end of the tournament. SECURITY 27. All personnel entering the station will require a valid entry pass for the individual and their vehicle. Unit Reps & team captains are requested to complete and return the nominal role for ALL PERSONNEL (Bowlers and Supporters) who require entry and return it with their entry form. All civilians and dependants not in procession of a valid RAF Wittering access pass will require a photo ID (Passport or Drivers License) in order to gain access to the station. It remains the individual’s responsibility to ensure their details are passed to the Tournament Manager and that they are in possession of a photo ID style identity card. ACCOMMODATION 28. Accommodation is the responsibility of the individual, however, Wittering Bowl management have put together the following accommodation details. On base accommodation is limited so its all on a first come first served basis.
