					ONE NATION ETHANOL AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
I TRULY BELIEVE ONLY AUST. FARMERS CAN BE TRUSTED TO BOTH. . . “FEED & FUEL THE NATION” EFFICIENTLY & ECONOMICALLY!!
We cannot & must not let the oil companies take control of our emerging Bio-fuels Industry & thereby to control the price of our food & daily needs as they do with their fossil fuels! Driving us into economic meltdown! TIME IS RUNNING OUT!
OUR FARMERS HAVE THE GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO “FUEL & FEED US!!” BUT THEY MUST MAKE THEIR MOVE NOW OR U.S. COMPANIES LIKE ETHTEC; BIO-ENERGY & B.P. MONSANTO, & DOW WILL CLOSE THE DOOR ON THEM! ALL TO REAP THE POTENTIAL U.S. $1 BILLION A DAY PROFITS!

“ THE VICTOR WILL NEVER BE ASKED IF HE TOLD THE TRUTH. ”
Author unknown. BIG OIL IN LEAGUE WITH GIANT CHEMICAL COMPANIES LIKE MONSANTO & NOW DOW CHEMICALS, THOSE CONTROLLING THE SO CALLED ANTI-ETHANOL LOBBY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MASS FALSE PROPAGANDA & FEARS ! WHO’S REAL AGENDA WAS TO GREEDILY CONTROL THAT WHICH THEY EXPERTLY SET OUT DEMONIZE IS NOW IN FULL SWING! G.M .U.S. HAS ANNOUNCED ITS PLANS TO JOIN IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE GIANT U.S. ETHANOL BIO-FUELS GROUP COSKATA! Despite my own efforts here in Australia of the past five years to counter the outright lies & false information saturating our media by those who covet the control of this Industry fully! Unlike those of the hugely successful U.S. Farmer Ethanol Cooperatives who are now in control of almost 60% of the U.S. Ethanol Industry! Then we can understand just what is at stake as well as the magnitude of it & the reason why?

Here in Aust. their anti-Ethanol campaign has been so successful that unbelievably there are still those who still cannot be convinced or will not , no matter what evidence I produce that 10% will not damage their cars!! Despite the fact that for the past 25 years U.S. drivers have been using it happily where now they number 11 million!! Not just 10% but 15% & 85%! So now despite all their claims & counter claims here in Aust. they have fought the campaign that they would be so proud of ? One that with the help of corrupt Govt. assistance behind closed doors is almost done!! The deliberate campaign to keep our own Australian Farmers ignorant of their own rites of passage into what is essentially a Rural based Industry & not an oil company one!! Australia will be the worst for the community ignorance of our farming community in their casual approach to the emergence of this vital Industry! G.M.H. AUST. ANNOUNCES ALL NEW COMMODORES ARE NOW E85 CAPABLE AS WELL AS ALL OTHER MODELS BY 2010!! SO TO HERALD IN THIS NEW AUST. ETHANOL INDUSTRY THAT I HAVE REPORTED ON & ONE THAT GMH HAS BEEN PREPARING FOR AT LEAST 5 YEARS! GMH SHOWS OFF ITS E85 LIST! This announcement by GMH is not news to me! Now, or for some time! Where it seems that strangely enough they have also chose not to listen to foreign oil’s own anti-ethanol propaganda! All to aid their set up this vital & most necessary of

Industies just as their monopoly in oil! Yet it is undeniable energy is the one thing that our economy depends so heavily upon! Despite all the else though it is a step in the right direction toward fossil fuel independence & the eventual complete phasing out of this killer oil that’s directly responsible for the deaths of too many Australians each & every year not to mention an A.M.A estimated almost thousands who become chronically ill from car & truck exhaust fumes! One Nation supports the introduction of these cleaner alternatives, as well as other E85 car imports like Volvo tc; However I fear that with the oil companies in full control of the Aust. biofuel Industry we will not see as in the U.S. majority & Farmer owned & controlled Industry, the low prices that see U.S. consumers paying a mere approx. U.S. $2.60-80 a gallon & we around A.U. $6.00 gallon! Where soon because of this oil company monopoly some say we will soon be paying an intolerable $8.00 per liter or over $25 per gallon!!! It is widely believed in the U.S. that & solely because of the Farmer Cooperative owned majority stake in the Ethanol industry, that this is the only reason why U.S petrol prices are amongst the lowest in the world!! Now thanks to Govt. pandering to foriegn oil & giant chemical companies like Monsanto & now Dow, we will relinquish control of one of the last bastions of our Rural wealth that would have seen our battling Aust. farmers rise up out of the depths of despair that many now see themselves in thanks to successive Govts. policies that have seen them forsaken & betrayed! (continued below)

NEW HOLDEN COMMODORES TO USE E85 ETHANOL FUEL.

HOLDEN COUPE 60 TO RUN ON E85 ETHANOL

VE COMMODORE E85 SPORTSWAGON

Though I have never once trusted in the anti-ethanol propaganda machine, having first begun to use it in my Holden Camira I bought in 1982 & more recently in my current 1989 Ford Telstar TX5 using only E10 in it for the past 5 years without any damage! In fact the benefits in economy as well as performance & reliability only serve to cement my belief & trust in its true worth! To boot the knowledge that as I drive I am reducing the toxic effects of the other 90% that is the killer fossil fuel by 22%! So the great thing about these Holdens here is that they being E85 capable is that they too will have an even more & dramatic effect on the air that we breathe here on the ground! As far as C02 emmisions? One Nation is not one that entertains that this is causing man made global warming! We also aspire to the ideal that once all fossil fuel is displaced there will be no more room for argument in this stupid hypothesis!

General Motors and Coskata
Bringing together the world's leader in flex fuel vehicles with the leader in Next Generation ethanol.

General Motors is the auto industry leader in offering consumers a choice of flex-fuel cars and trucks that run on either ordinary gasoline or E85 - a blend of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline, or any combination of the two. GM produces more than 1 million flex-fuel vehicles a year and has 3.5 million on the road globally. Over the last 18 months, GM has led the effort to grow E85 gas stations around the country. The effort has led to more than 300 GM ethanol pumps being added in 15 states. Rapid Commercialization & Retail Development With an undisclosed equity stake in the company, GM is enabling Coskata to produce the next generation of biofuels without using a food source - making ethanol economically viable and commercially available. Together, GM and Coskata will work to accelerate the commercialization and retail development of biomass-based ethanol to encourage more stations to sell E85, and make this alternative fuel a viable choice for drivers of flex-fuel vehicles. Our work together is an important step towards enhancing U.S. energy security, while at the same time, tackling some of our most important environmental challenges in a meaningful way.

WHILE AUST. FARMERS ARE ENCOURAGED BY THE GOVT. TO STAND ASIDE FOR FOREIGN OIL, OBAMA SAYS IF BRAZIL CAN BE FOSSIL FREE, HIS U.S. FARMERS CAN BE TRUSTED TO DO THE SAME AND I QUOTE HIM: “U.S.

FARMERS ARE GOING TO BE CRITICAL TO THAT ENTIRE PROCESS”! July 01, 2009 President Obama on biofuels: "If Brazil can do it, there's no reason we can't do it" President Obama was interviewed yesterday by Yankton, South Dakota's WNAX Farm Director Michelle Rook, speaking about the Administration's "Rural Tour" which kicks off July 1. In the interview, the President spoke at length about biofuels and their role in the future of American agriculture.

When asked how big of a role he thought renewable fuels would play in the long-term profitability of American agriculture, President Obama replied, "I think it's going to be critical. I think there's huge potential around biofuels... Ethanol has been a big boon to a lot of rural communities, really making the difference between profitability and not making a profit for a lot of farmers." The President noted that next-generation biofuels will be important: "What we also are recognizing is that the key for us is going to be moving into the next generation of biofuels. How can we use wood chips, refuse, switchgrass, and the whole other set of biofuels standards, and how can we improve the efficiency of first generation biofuels. And farmers are going to be critical to that entire process." President Obama also cited the example of Brazil, which uses ethanol extensively to fuel its automobile fleet. "If Brazil can do it, there's no reason we can't do it," Posted on July 01, 2009 at 11:26 AM in

Just where in this article below does it mention anything but multinationals & big oil? Just where does it show support for our own battling farmers or show the level of importance as shown by OBAMA to his U.S. Farmers? THERE IS NONE!!
Read the sad truth below for yourself. . . . . . . . . .

The Biofuels Association of Australia applauds the New South Wales Government Support for Biofuels!
There is no doubt that biofuels are needed in Australia to combat climate change, to provide an alternative as peak oil approaches, and to support more jobs especially in regional Australia. This last point is particularly important with the world financial crisis impacting on Australian companies and employees being laid off. The New South Wales Government recognises these drivers and is showing strong leadership in encouraging expansion of the biofuels industry in NSW. The Biofuels Association of Australia (BAA), the peak body for the biofuels industry, congratulates the NSW Government on their support for the biofuels industry. The BAA says that Australia cannot afford to wait to develop solutions in the transport sector for climate change and peak oil. The CSIRO Future Fuels Forum has already indicated the consequences of waiting - $A8 per litre fuel. Even now Australia is importing 30% of its diesel and 20% of its petrol and although prices are relatively low at the moment they will rise when the Australian and world economies turn around. "Without greater government action now it is unlikely that Australia will be prepared if it needs to abruptly change the transport system (such as in the case of a near-term peak in global oil production)" (CSIRO Future Fuels Forum, 2008). The NSW Government Minister for Climate Change and the Environment, the Hon Carmel Tebbut and the Hon Tony Kelly, Minister for Lands are strong supporters of biofuels in NSW as the way to improve the environment in NSW and increase fuel security. It is obvious to the BAA that biofuels are going to be part of the climate change solution because in the short to medium term there are not too many low carbon fuel choices that can be used in our existing transport fuel infrastructure. The CSIRO and the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation has publicly stated the positive environmental credentials of biofuels in a range of reports published over the past 12 months so there is no doubt about their benefits. In fact the BAA estimates that if Australia were to have E10 (10% ethanol) and B20 (20% biodiesel) blends we would be saving 7.1 million tonnes of greenhouse gases each year. Also, lets not forget the health benefits of biofuels with the Clean Air Alliance reinforcing the BAA view that biofuels improve the health of Australians. Momentum for biofuels is certainly building in Australia with the NSW Government announcement and GM Holden's publicly announced intention to build E85 vehicles in Australia. These E85 vehicles will enable Australians to make best use of biofuels as we scale up the industry" says the Biofuels Association of Australia. The BAA says "Australia needs a strong sustainable biofuels industry and we need strong Federal and State Government policies to get there." (Source Ethanol Producer magazine) WHILE OUR AUST. BIOFUEL INDUSTRY IS BEING SET UP HERE BY FOREIGN OIL, IN THE U.S. ANOTHER GIANT CHEMICAL COMPANY,(DOW) IS MAKING ITS MOVE ON THE U.S. FARMER COOPERATIVE DOMINATED INDUSTRY! DOW ALGENOL IS SET TO PRODUCE ALGAE ETHANOL!

Here once again Aust. languishes many years behind the U.S. with another failure by our Aust. Govt. to be in step with modern technologies & the lack of support to our own rural agricultural Industries! All who should be in control of this Industry & not greedy chemical companies who will seek to license all feed as well as the algae process! Just as they have with many genetically modified seeds in the U.S ! We remember the case I reported on of the U.S. corn farmer that lost his farm because he dared to keep back some Monsanto GM seed to sow when unable at the time to purchase any none GM seed from his supplier! This I have no doubt is a fate that will confront our own farmers or those who would wish to cultivate algae feed or canola etc; to supply these greedy multinational companies! Where all Dow or Monsanto feed will be licensed & where they will accept no other than their own licensed biofuel algae feed!

Dow, Algenol plan to build pilot algae-to-ethanol biorefinery
By Hope Deutscher Report posted June 30, 2009, at 3:39 p.m. CST The Dow Chemical Co. and Algenol Biofuels Inc. announced June 29 that they plan to build and operate a pilot-scale algae-based integrated biorefinery on 24-acres at Dow’s Freeport, Texas, site that will convert carbon dioxide into ethanol. Using carbon dioxide, salt water, sunlight and non-arable land, Algenol Biofuel's technology produces ethanol. According to Algenol Biofuels, the first of its kind pilot-scale technology biorefinery has the potential to produce more than 100,000 gallons of ethanol per year using technology that doesn’t use food as feedstock, doesn’t require arable land or fresh water and absorbs carbon dioxide during production. The biorefinery is expected to consume two dry tons of carbon dioxide obtained from industrial emissions daily. “We are very excited to be part of this ground-breaking alternative energy project, which is a good example of Dow's holistic approach to carbon dioxide capture and storage by adding value through chemistry," said Andrew Liveris, Dow chairman and CEO. "This project and the innovative technology involved offer great promise in the battle to help slow, stop and reverse the growth of greenhouse gas emissions." Dow, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the Georgia Institute of Technology and Membrane Technology & Research Inc. are contributing science, expertise, and technology to the project. Dow said the combined expertise offers new and innovative technology, with the opportunity for creating a breakthrough process for ethanol production. In late June, Algenol Biofuels submitted its formal request to the U.S. DOE to obtain a grant for financial support to successfully conduct the pilot project. Upon approval of the grant, Dow and the other collaborators will work with Algenol Biofuels to demonstrate the technology at a level to sufficiently prove that it can be implemented on a commercial scale. “We are thrilled to work with all of our collaborators to further develop and produce our next-generation biofuels,” said Paul Woods, CEO of Algenol Biofuels. “This project sets the stage for commercial-scale production by proving two critical principles: first, that ethanol can be made economically without consuming fresh water or displacing valuable farm land better suited to food and feed production; second, that atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide can be reduced by capturing carbon dioxide from a variety of industrial sources and using it to produce fuel that can displace conventional, high carbon gasoline.” In addition to leasing the land for the pilot-scale facility, Dow said it will develop the advanced materials and specialty films for the photobioreactor system; provide the technology and expertise related to water treatment solutions; and will provide Algenol Biofuels with access to a carbon dioxide source for the biorefinery from a nearby Dow manufacturing facility. The carbon dioxide will be supplied to the algae in the photobioreactors and will serve as the carbon source for the ethanol produced. The result is a carbon dioxide capture process which converts industrially derived carbon dioxide into more sustainable fuels and chemicals. NREL plans to conduct laboratory and on-site analysis of simulated power plant flue gas, as well as industrial sources of carbon dioxide emissions, and the impact of these various sources of carbon dioxide on the Algenol algae samples. Georgia Tech will collaborate on the project and develop technologies and processes for delivering carbon dioxide to the algae and separating carbon dioxide from other gases. Georgia Tech, in collaboration with University of Georgia scientists, will design and test new ethanol separation technologies. Membrane Technology and Research plans to analyze various ethanol and water separation systems, as well as design and construct a distillation-membrane hybrid for the project that is based on the company’s BioSep Process. Membrane Technology and Research will also perform long-term continuous tests with the system, using ethanol from Algenol’s process to confirm the technology’s reliability and efficiency. NOW ANOTHER GREAT U.S. FARMER OWNED ETHANOL COOPERATIVE BREAKTHROUGH. THOUGH CELLULOSES & ALGAE BIO-FUELS ARE THE FUTURE THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A PLACE FOR CORN & GRAIN FEED AS THERE ARE MANY OTHER BI-PRODUCTS OF THE GRAIN FEED PROCESS! Many are alcohol based products like for instance (Aircraft deicer) used by all the major airlines! Just to mention a few many industrial & household cleaners are also bi-products of the Ethanol process & fractionation will allow this process to continue uninterrupted now that this truly amazing process is available! So no longer can the oil lobby claim that corn for ethanol is not a viable process! No longer can they falsely accuse farmers of this!! Just one more of their myths being dealt with for what it is!!

"Fractionation "
The process of stripping the starch away from the kernel as in the corn kernel graphic (left) which is self evident, & is called "Fractionation " The practice& process of food and fuel separation. As M.O.R Technology ( U.S. Farmer Cooperatives) notes on its website, fractionation addresses the “food vs. fuel” debate by preserving the corn’s valuable components and routing them back into the food chain on the farm. ( Those producing their own biofuel etc;) ICM, Inc. has also promoted its fractionation system, calling it a “food and fuel technology bundle.” ICM’s dry fractionation is only the first of a six-step system, which also includes solid fuel combustion, germ oil extraction, protein extraction from germ, single-cell protein feed from syrup, and ethanol from fiber (cellulosic ethanol). “The integration of all six solutions will help end the current food vs. fuel debate,” ICM’s website notes, “with a business model that can help feed the world.” ICM put its food-and-fuel plan into action when it partnered with Lifeline Foods in February 2006 to add ethanol production to the St. Joseph, Missouri manufacturer of corn-based food ingredients. ICM has a 49 percent stake in Lifeline Foods, with 51 percent owned by AgraMarke Quality Grains, a cooperative of now more than 600 farmers from Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, and Nebraska. The St. Joe plant is now able to take in the bushels of corn provided by its farmer-owners and turn them into 50 million gallons of ethanol annually, plus a wide variety of corn-based ingredients. Lifeline another farmer owned coop (not an oil company) makes several dry corn milled products: flaking grit for corn flakes, brewers grit for the brewing industry, snack meal for processed foods, corn meal for breads and muffins, and corn flour for pancake mixes and ready-to-eat cereals. The plant also creates masa flour products – tortilla flour, chip flour for tortilla chips, and taco flour – as well as cornbased food and industrial binders. The corn’s bran, made possible through the fractionation process, is available as a food ingredient that adds fiber to baked goods and snacks. “Fractionation is the first step to diversify the base ethanol plant beyond just ethanol and DDGS,” Jakel said. “It is the lynchpin to going forward to a biorefinery.” It seems the young ethanol industry has only touched on a fraction of its potential.

SINCE 2000 APPROX. 20,000 AUSTRALIANS HAVE DIED FROM?
THE FOREIGN OIL LOBBY WILL TELL YOU THAT THE 18,000 TO 20,000 AUSTRALIANS THAT HAVE DIED SINCE THE YEAR 2000 DIRECTLY FROM FOSSIL FUEL EXHAUST FUMES IS ACCEPTABLE?? THEY WILL ALSO TELL YOU THAT THE 55,000 WHO BECAME CHRONICALLY ILL SINCE THEN IS ALSO ACCEPTABLE?
Forget about the SWINE FLU pandemic!!

The National road toll that pails into insignificance!! Forget about the deaths caused from tobacco smoking!! Forget about the deaths caused by illicit drug abuse!! The number of Australians dyeing so OPEC foreign oil barons continue to make trillions in profits, all seems to be getting far less urgent attention than the road toll, smoking & those who die addicted to drugs! One Nation is in disbelief of this totally unacceptable source of Australian deaths & sicknesses!! One that just grows larger year by year at a cost in 2008-9 of $2.7 Billion to our economy! A crime which as far as One Nation is concerned is not now or never will be acceptable no matter what reason for if only one of us were to die its too many!! One Nation proclaims this to be a National & disgraceful crime of the greatest magnitude ! One Nation disputes the minority Global warming hypothesis which it considers along with a growing majority of credible scientists, now some 30,000 in number, compared to less than 3000 who have forced their false scenario upon the world! One it sees as do many, as the greatest con in the history of the world & one that has become a $100 billion per year scam dressed up as an Industry in carbon trading! One Nation believes C02 is not the enemy which has not caused man made Global warming! It does not dispute however that we indeed have climate change? But a Natural one & the very same we have had now for billions of years!! One Nation now proclaims the real killer of the world populations is indeed fossil fuel of which our Govt’s past & present are guilty of wasting Billions to protect? First on this totally false G.W. hypothesis on a yet to be proven possibility of global warming that may never happen!! When we along with our own A.M.A that are absolutely 100% in no doubt that just for starters, petrol & Diesel exhaust is more carcinogenic than cigarette smoke killing millions world wide,! Yet which isn't regulated & as taxed like smoking. Rather unbelieveably, our tax system as below encourages more fossill fuel use in our cities. So where's the 'Quit' campaign against dirty diesel & petrol fumes? It begins right here with my One Nation campaign! Just what was the cost to us all apart from the great loss of life & sickness? Though it is true You will not want to believe It for in 2008-9 there were. . . . . . . . .

$9 billion in subsidies to big oil = 2000 Aussies a year dead! As well as 4,500 chronically ill that = $2,7Bill. in yearly health costs.
Contrary to general belief the Ethanol Industry & U.S. farmers do not get 1 cent of the estimated $5 to $7 Billion ethanol subsidies or VEET! This goes to the oil companies to encourage them to blend clean Eth. with their killer oil! So apart from the up to $U.S.7 Billion they receive for this!! As in the U.S in 2008 in Aust. alone $9 billion in subsidies was given to the foreign owned oil companies, to produce fossil fuel!! This despite all their $Trillions of profit! A GSI report has found that the Aust. government spent just A$ 95 million on supporting biofuel production and consumption in 2006-07. But again as in the U.S. this went to the oil companies! While our health costs were estimated at $2.7 Billion annually directly caused by their killer oil . Their fossil fuel that kills so many predictably each & every year & makes another AMA calculated 4,500 of us chronically ill! The health costs to us in this are astronomical & far out weigh any possible subsidy to our farmers that will see us replace this killer once & for all! Only clean Ethanol & Bio-diesel will stop this carnage & the cost even if subsidised should be to the benefit of our farmers & the health system & not the oil companies! It will also remove the Govt.& global warming scammers argument for ever on their global warming con that is set to cost us all $100 Bill. each & every year globally or every Aust. family $3000 per year!!
YOU DOUBT THE SHOCKING FIGURES ABOVE? THEN BEFORE INCLUDING THE RECENT SMH REPORT FROM THE AMA: “CAR FUMES DRIVING US TO AN EARLY GRAVE” OUR INCOMPETENT GOVT. IN ITS STUPIDITY IS ABOUT TO TAX HEAVILY THE ONLY THING THAT CAN & WILL SAVE OUR LIVES!!

7

The LABOR Government has decided to tax 'alternative' fuels such as gas (LPG, LNG and CNG), ethanol and biodiesel, so they cost the same as petrol and diesel. Senator Allison says this is a mistake that will "pull the rug out" from industries struggling to promote cleaner fuels, and ensure that dirtier fuels continue to dominate.

NOW THIS CHILLING REPORT FROM THE SMH WHICH WAS ENDORSED BY THE AMA!

Car fumes driving us to early grave
By Alexandra Smith and Julie Robotham Pollution from cars may be prematurely killing as many as 2000 Australians each year and causing another 2000 asthma attacks. The residents most at risk from car fumes live in the Sydney suburbs of Lane Cove, Leichhardt, Concorde, Bankstown, Fairfield, Marrickville, Campbelltown and Blacktown, a new study reveals. It says about 4500 people are thought to be treated in hospital each year as a result of car-related pollution, while the Federal Government estimates the health impact costs at least $2.7 billion a year. The study - the first of its kind by the Bureau of Transport and Regional Economics - found that in 2000 air pollution from cars caused 2000 early deaths, and was responsible for as many as 4500 cases of cardio-vascular and respiratory diseases and bronchitis. "Similarly, motor vehicle-related air pollution is estimated to have contributed to between 700 and 2050 asthma attacks in Australia," it says. Children may be more vulnerable than adults because they inhale more air for their body weight. As well, they may spend more time outdoors and their growing organs may be more susceptible to damage. Several studies have demonstrated a higher prevalence of chronic cough among children living close to main roads. The study says sulfur dioxide, lead and carbon monoxide levels have been dramatically reduced in Australia and other developed countries in recent years but air particles remain a serious health threat. Particles can cause breathing problems, exacerbate respiratory diseases such as asthma and, depending on the nature of the particles, can be carcinogenic, the study says. "Emission control technology and changes in fuel standards have reduced motor vehicle air pollution emissions," it says. "But emissions of fine particles and volatile organic compounds [released from burning fuel] from road vehicles remain the main concern for transport-related health risks." The study warns that even though Australian cities have low pollution levels, particularly in comparison with Los Angles or Athens, there is still a potential health risk. "Recent research has implicated ozone, nitrogen dioxide and particulate matter - all pollutants formed from vehicle exhausts - as contributing factors to asthma-related hospital admissions and mortality," the study says. The bureau's study, which analyses the results of previous international studies on pollution, says that while scientists have long known that pollution worsens the suffering of asthmatics, more recent science suggests it may actually cause asthma. Andrew Tonkin, the National Heart Foundation's chief medical officer, said: "It's fair to say health professionals tend to ignore this area but the public is very concerned. This [report] really substantiates the drive for cleaner vehicles and improved city planning and I applaud the transport department for looking at this." Sydney researchers revealed this week that they had detected a link between higher pollution levels and reduced birthweight in babies in the metropolitan area, suggesting the noxious effects of traffic fumes may cross the placenta to the developing foetus. Guy Marks, the head of epidemiology at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research, said it was difficult to quantify to what degree pollution contributed to overall rates of asthma and other lung conditions.

8

Laboratory experiments in which people were subjected to pollutants could sometimes establish levels at which they caused obvious changes to body functions. However, it was harder to know how people might respond to long-term, lower levels of exposure, and to separate any effects from others such as diet. Sydney Morning Herald

NOW JUST SOME OF THE EFFECTS OF CAR & TRUCK FUMES! AS STATED BY OUR OWN AMA!

Health effects of petrol & diesel exhaust are?
Coughs and phlegm Lightheadedness, nausea Increased susceptibility to allergens like dust or pollen Irritation of eyes, nose, throat and lungs Inflammation of lungs, and increased asthma attacks Respiratory diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease Lowered resistance to respiratory infection Macrophages overwhelmed by particles result in immune reactions that cause inflammation and 'sticky' blood, increasing risk of clots and both heart and lung disease ( In this Viv. I am on lifetime subsidised heart medication including asprin to keep my blood from clotting!) Mutations in chromosomes and damage to DNA For people exposed chronically to 1 µg/m3 of diesel exhaust, a rate of lung cancer in the range of 34 to 650 people per Million. Possible cause of multiple chemical sensitisation, leading to changes in red and white blood cells, bleeding, liver damage, and degeneration of the nervous system. THOUGH AMERICA THROUGH THE AID OF ITS FARMER COOPS IS MOVING AWAY FROM FOSSIL FUEL! HOW MUCH ARE THEY STILL PAYING TO DIE? AMERICANS ARE SPENDING $1BILLION PER DAY ON GASOLINE! One billion dollars a day is an astronomical figure -- and it's the amount Americans are spending every single day to gas up their vehicles. Tom Kloza, chief oil analyst at the Oil Price Information Service, told the New York Times recently ("High Gas Prices Could Slow Recovery") that in January, consumers were spending about $600 million per day on fuel for their vehicles, but now that figure is back up to around $1 billion per day. The article says, "The national jump in prices, far larger than the normal seasonal increase, is pulling billions of dollars from the pockets of drivers. It threatens to curtail a modest recovery in consumer spending on items like apparel and electronics." Oil and gasoline prices are on the way back up, and this underscores the importance of having a cost-effective alternative like ethanol. For example, the Nebraska Ethanol Board recently did an analysis that showed Nebraska drivers have already saved more than $4.5 million this year by choosing E10 at the pump. And, they say, if all the fuel sold in the state in the past five years was E85, Nebraskans would have saved $2.6 billion. Let's not spend $1 billion a day on a non-renewable, often imported fuel. Ethanol is a cost-effective, homegrown alternative that can keep money circulating in our nation's economy and give it the boost that it needs. The EPA allowing up to 15 percent ethanol per gallon would be a good start. (Source American
