A tax ratification election (TRE) – also called a tax rollback
election – will be held in Lorena ISD. In the TRE, the voters will
vote for or against “approving the ad valorem tax rate of $1.3774
per $100 valuation in Lorena Independent School District.”

If the majority votes for the $1.37 per $100 valuation tax rate,
Lorena ISD will receive additional funding of $1,000,000 this year
and every succeeding year. $420,000 will be generated locally, and
the state will provide $580,000 in additional funding for the total
of a million additional dollars per year.

If the majority votes against the $1.37 per $100 valuation tax rate,
the tax rate will be “rolled back” to the 08-09 rate of $1.24, and the
district will not have access to the $1,000,000 additional funds.
This information is factual and is intended to provide the voters in the Lorena ISD with
information about the upcoming Tax Ratification Election (TRE) to be held on November 3, 2009.
The Lorena ISD encourages all voters to become informed about the issues and to vote in the
     TRE.
