Dear Parents/Carers

Another exciting and busy week in the life of our school! Enjoy catching up on our news. Yesterday we
enjoyed our first mass celebrated with Father John Winstanley – a powerful and spiritual beginning to
our year together. Father John will be spending small amounts of time in each class over the year as
they prepare to have mass within their classroom.

Matrix After School Planner
Last night you should have received the after school club planner illustrating the wide
range of clubs that are on offer from next week. Please do spend time at home tonight
exploring the different activities your child could engage in. There are a number of
different activities for each age group. Encourage your child to approach the member of
staff that is running the club for letters and more information

                      Come to school by Bike
On Sunday 22nd September it is World Car Free Day. This is a day across the
world where people pledge that they will try to go care free / go car free by
travelling more actively and sustainably– walking, cycling, public transport and car
sharing. Pledges can be made online at or on
paper so pop into the school office for more details. Participants are entered into
a prize draw for 4 tickets to see Joseph and his Technicolour dreamcoat show and
                      meal for 4 at Tiramisu.

New Families
Many more new families have joined our school community this week. We know that they will settle
into school life well.

As you know our “Free Blackpool Breakfast” continues and so does our
“alfresco” eating. We have not had a great deal of feedback from parents or
pupils, other than some children have asked if they can snack on their
breakfasts at morning break! We are looking into this possibility. If you have any
comments – positive or negative – please share them with me or another staff

Our school council “pre” meeting took place this week. Patrick, Katie, Leo and Megan
attended a short session at St Berrnadette’s to prepare for the debate. It was busy,
but productive! We are also going to take part in a debate at the town hall on Tuesday
17th September to discuss the argument, “School Breakfasts Are Wasteful” – a super
opportunity for our school councilors to undertake their first project.
Curriculum Letters
You should have received your curriculum letter from your child’s class teacher – if you have not please

New books for our homework projects have been distributed this week. What a wonderful celebration
of creativity these books will be.

Science Club
Sadly the new Science after School Club due to run between 7th October and 10th
December by the Mad Science Company has been cancelled. Apologies for any
inconvenience caused.

                         Let’s Grow!
We’re collecting now!!! – The Morrison’s Let’s Grow promotion has begun
again. You can hand your vouchers into the school office or send them into
                         school via your child.

Kind regards

Sarah Smith
