Similan Islands Season : Diving Conditions at the Similans The Similan islands is a national park, ruled by the government, the Mu Koh Similan National Park open around the 15th of October depending on the year and close around the 15th of Mai. Between October and Mai the diving is very good with a visibility of 20 to 40 m, the west cost of Thailand being protected by the mountain from the Easterly wind from the east cost monsoon, opposite season east/west), the sea is very flat and the condition optimum from December to end of March. Current tend to be stronger from the end of February but it s not a problem as we do mainly drift diving at the Similan Islands. January, February and March being the driest time of the year with almost no rain. Our Similan Islands scuba diving liveaboards runs from mid-October to mid-Mai. The best season at the Similan Islands is from November to Mai when the rainy season stays away, after Mai depending on the year the rainy season start with a mix of rain and sun. Around this time the Similan Islands are closed due to high waves created by the strong wind from the west. July and August are quite nice, still some shower depending on the year the amount of rain is different. Between Juin and October Koh Phi Phi is still accessible for diving as it s protected by the island of Phuket. We offer some liveaboard around Koh Phi Phi around this time of the year where the diving is amazing and the condition pretty good.
