   INTRODUCTION
• HE Institution is seen
  not only as a place of
  education BUT a
  resource for promoting
  health and well-being of
  all students, staff and
  the wider community.
• HE is at the top of the education
  pyramid and determines to a
  large extend the state of key
  issues of the country, including
  mental health.
• HE is the reservoir of the best
  equipped human resources and
  physical resources having an
  obligation to help develop areas
  like mental health.
• Mental Health is about
  everyone – there is no single
  division between people with
  a mental health difficulty
  and people who are well.
• Everyone’s mental health
  fluctuates depending on the
  life event and personal
  wellbeing.
         CHALLENGES
• Transition
• Social changes
• Psychological challenges of anxiety,
  stress,
• Sexual harassment (STGs)
• Suicidal thoughts and suicide
• Relationship
• Drug and alcohol abuse
          PROSPECTS
• HEIs to examine their role in mental
  health in line with their functions
• Proactive approach at national and
  institutional policy levels
• Counselling and mental health services
• Capacity building
• Research
• Mental Health Promotion/Literacy
       CONCLUSION
• HEIs need to foster positive
  mental health by making
  effective arrangements so
  that everyone benefits.
• BE PREPARED TO DO
  BUSSINESS IN UNUSUAL
  WAY TO BE RELEVANT
  AND OF VALUE TO OUR
