What is a Point of Dispensing
           (POD)?
This refers to the location(s) where
public health and others gather to
disburse medications or vaccines to
people who have been exposed to a
biological agent.

n   Provide rapid delivery of a broad spectrum of
    support for an ill-defined threat in the early hours
    of an event

n   Provide large shipments of specific material when
    a threat is known

n   Provide technical assistance to receive and
    distribute program material during an event

    antidotes and other medical supplies

    and efficient flow of individuals through the POD.

n   Data Unit Leader and staff- Unit Leader oversees
    data entry of records and/or collection of records.
    Unit members enter data into application and/or
    collect records.
n   Supply Unit and staff- Ensure Stations are
    supplied and track distribution.
n   Facilities Unit Leader and staff-Responsible for
    functions of the facility during POD operations.
n   Support Unit Leader and staff-Responsible for
    maintaining the personnel rest and rehabilitation
    area and providing adequate water to workstations
    during POD operations.
           Additional Staff Roles and

n   Runners- The information messengers between
    stations and managers. Assist with supplies, etc.
n   Translators- Assist patients with translation to
    navigate through the process.
n   Behavioral Health- Counselors available to assist
    patients.
n   Special Needs Assistant- Assist patients who are
    handicapped to navigate through the process.
