Reminder: Whenever you are out (sick, vacation, personal leave, etc.) please complete a Form 400A, along
with calling in to TSEAS. OHR has asked us to keep more papers on file. Anyway, I will be putting forms in
your boxes with past dates on it, so if you can please sign and return it to me. Thanks.

Teachers & Staff: Aloha United Way brochures & pledge forms were put in your boxes. Pleases return them to
me (Chris) in the office by Oct. 23rd. Thank you for your support.

Please double check if you have the fluorescent pink PEP-T books in your room. (Unless you turned it in at the
end of last year). I need to re-issue books and have you initial for them for this school year. See me asap.

Any Seniors with elementary class pictures or pictures from senior bonding, please bring those to Mrs. Hoy or
Kui Ching ASAP. The pre-sale for yearbooks ends on Thurs. Oct. 15. So buy one now and save money. Want to
put your own pictures in the yearbook? Now’s your chance. Yearbook is offering an opportunity for students to
put their own personal pictures in the yearbook for only $5. See Mrs. Hoy for details.

Attention all students who plan on participating in the up-coming Winter sports season, now is your chance to
take your sports physicals here at the school. Mass physicals will be given on Wednesday, October 21, 2009
from 1:30-4:30pm for only $25!!! Sign up in the main office before all spots get filled up.

PSAT STUDENTS: SEE the List POSTED in Main Office and around campus of students signed up for the
PSAT test . The PSAT test is this Wednesday, October 14, 2009. Report directly to the Library at 8:00
AM. The check in starts promptly at 8:00 AM. We should be completed by 11:15 . Reminder to BRING: Two
No. 2 pencils, a calculator and snacks for breaks. No cell phones or MP3s are allowed. The PSAT test is part of
the “Personal Transition Plan” which is a component of the graduation requirements for the Class of 2010
and beyond. Please don’t forget to review your copy of the Official PAST Study guide to help you prepare for
the test. GOOD LUCK!

OCTOBER 22, 2009 during period 3 (10:15-11:06) in room C19. If any Junior or Senior student is
interested in attending the presentation, please sign up in the Counselor’s office and also pick up a Permission
Form that must be completed PRIOR to attendance of the presentation.

STUDENTS…. PARENT / TEACHER CONFERENCES are on Thursday, October 22,
2009 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Kohala High School Cafeteria ALL teachers and school staff
will be available to have a conference at each of the designated tables in the cafeteria. Parents will pick up the
first quarter report cards, then proceed to meet with your teachers, counselors, etc. This is a great opportunity
for parents with their son / daughter to talk one to one with the Kohala teachers and staff! See you there!

Seniors that plan to attend University of Hawaii-Manoa, apply for the College Opportunities Program
(COP). The COP program provides alternative pathway for the individuals who desire to attend the UH-
Manoa but who do not possess the minimum requirements for admission. Participants engage in an intensive
five-week summer academic and residential program focused on preparing individuals for a successful
freshman year at the UHM. For the application and more details see the Counselor. DEADLINE to apply is
DECEMBER 15, 2009.

Juniors and Seniors: the ASVAB Test is being administered on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 periods 1,
2,7,4. The ASVAB is an aptitude test , a career exploration tool, an interest inventory & entrance exam
for students pursuing a military career. If you are NOT pursuing a military career, juniors & seniors are
encouraged to take the ASVAB as a career exploration program. It is free. Sign up in the Counselor’s office
and pick up Permission Form. Deadline to sign up is November 9, 2009

JUNIORS & SENIORS: there will be a Hawaii College & Career Fair featuring different types of colleges
throughout the nation. Talk with college representatives, explore different majors and career options, and see
what college has to offer you! The event is Friday, November 20, 2009 at Waikoloa Beach Resort. Because
this is a furlough Friday, all school personnel will not be able to volunteer to attend with students. Regardless,
we are encouraging students to go with other students and / or parents to visit with the college representatives.
Since there will be fewer students you will receive more individualized attention and have greater opportunity
to get all your questions answered first hand! CHECK IT OUT!!
