Specification class ‘C’- Reception & entrance areas
Daily, as part of the morning cleaning service provision: o Hard floor surface/s- remove all loose debris, and mop clean to remove all light staining with a damp clean mop and a light-detergent solution o Carpeted floor surfaces- remove all loose debris o Low-level surfaces (including desks)- dust down to remove any build-up of dust/debris, and wipe clean to remove all light staining with a damp clean cloth and a light detergent solution o Chairs and sofas- remove all loose debris o Door glass- wipe clean with a damp clean cloth and a light-detergent solution, and polish with a dry cloth leaving a streak/smear-free finish o Low-level window glass and frames- wipe clean with a damp clean cloth and a light-detergent solution, and polish the glass with a dry cloth leaving a streak/smear-free finish o Brass rails & fixings- wipe clean with a damp clean cloth and a light-detergent solution, and polish with a dry cloth leaving a streak/smear-free finish o Waste bins (including all external waste bins)- empty, by replacing the bin-liner o External areas (adjacent to the main front doors)- sweep to remove all loose debris/litter, remove all graffiti, and wipe clean all low-level signage to remove all light staining with a damp clean cloth and a light detergent solution Weekly, usually as part of the morning cleaning service provision: o Hard floor surface/s- spot clean to remove all medium staining/marking, chewing gum, sticker, and/or tape residue, and buff o Carpeted floor surfaces- spot clean to remove all medium staining/marking, chewing gum, sticker, and/or tape residue o Low-level ledges & internal sills- dust down to remove any build-up of dust/debris, and wipe clean to remove all light staining with a damp clean cloth and a light detergent solution o Chairs & sofas- remove all light to medium staining o Phones- wipe clean with a damp clean cloth and a light detergent solution o Computer keyboards- lift and gently tap from behind to remove any loose debris, & wipe clean with a damp clean cloth and a light-detergent solution o Computer monitor casings, PC casings, and desk-top printers- dust down to remove any build-up of dust/debris, and wipe clean to remove all light staining with a damp clean cloth and a light detergent solution o Doors & door frames- dust down to remove any build-up of dust/debris, and wipe clean to remove all light staining with a damp clean cloth and a light detergent solution o Skirting & edging- dust down to remove any build-up of dust/debris, and wipe clean to remove all light staining with a damp clean cloth and a light detergent solution o Pictures, Art, & displays- dust down to remove any build-up of dust/debris o Notice boards & white boards- dust around the frame to remove any build-up of dust/debris o Low-level pipe-work & heating- dust down to remove any build-up of dust/debris, and wipe clean to remove all light staining with a damp clean cloth and a light detergent solution o Low-level electric switches and power-outlets- dust down to remove any build-up of dust/debris o Waste bins (including all external waste bins)- wipe clean to remove all light staining with a damp clean cloth and a light detergent solution o External areas (adjacent to the main front doors)- spot clean to remove all chewing gum, sticker, and/or tape residue Periodically, three times per annum o Hard floor surface/s (vinyl)- strip/wash to remove all heavy staining/marking, apply a new layer of polish, and buff o Hard floor surface/s (other)- wash to remove all heavy staining/marking o Carpeted floor surfaces- wash to remove all heavy staining o Low-level shelving- dust down to remove any build-up of dust/debris, and wipe clean to remove all staining with a damp clean cloth and a light detergent solution o External areas (adjacent to the main front doors)- dust down to remove any build-up of dust/debris, and wipe clean to remove all light staining with a damp clean cloth and a light detergent solution all low-level pipework, lighting, and external junction boxes

Periodically, on a six-month basis: o Window glass, frames, & external sills- wash clean to remove all loose debris and staining, leaving a streak/smear-free finish on the glass o High-level external signage- wash clean to remove all loose debris and staining

Please note that for Health & Safety reasons the Service Provider has been instructed to complete all floor cleaning/maintenance works at least one hour prior to the building’s official opening time, so as to allow enough time for the floor surface to dry; and that when it comes to all areas of the day-to-day cleaning service provision the University employs a strict ‘clear-surface’ policy, which means that the Service Provider may not clean an area that it deems to be either overly ‘cluttered’, and/or not easily accessible.
