                                         for
                                           Mac users

Please note, these instructions were created with the Firefox web browser. Safari may work, but if you experience issues,
you’ll need to try a different browser. The author of this instruction manual had issues using Safari to download grant
applications and with the Citrix PureEdge Application.
1. Go to the Citrix Web page: http://citrix.med.miami.edu and login with your Medical ID login and password. In
many cases, this is your e-mail login and password. The first time you visit the Citrix web page from any computer,
you’ll need to install the Citrix client or change your settings to work with Java. Please go to the following page for
instructions: http://citrix.med.miami.edu/citrix/metaframe/MAC_Instructions.htm.

2. Once you login, you’ll be taken to your list of Applications. Open the PureEdge Folder.

                                                                                                                   Page 2
3. First, you’ll need to download a grant application. Click on the Government Grants Federal web page link.
4. You’ll be prompted to accept the signed certificate. Click Yes.

5. Depending on how your browser is configured for Citrix, you’ll see windows that open automatically. Do not
close these windows.

                                                                                                               Page 3
6. The web page opens the http://grants.gov website.

7. Search for grant opportunities.

                                                       Page 4
8. Once you find a grant opportunity click on the grants title link to get more information.

9. Click on the download link.

                                                                                              Page 5
10. Click on the link Download Application Package.

11. The PureEdge Application will automatically open and the grant application will load.

                                                                                            Page 6
12. Make any changes to the application and once you’re done, click on the save button. You should probably take
note of the grants file name on the web browsers address bar and save it with the same name but you can choose
any name you wish.

13. The PureEdge application will open and will prompt for the name of the file and the location to save it to. The
default location of “My Documents” is your personal drive on the network provided to you by Medical Information
Technology. This drive usually maps on the H drive and you’ll see it mapped if you click the down arrow next to
“Save in”. It’s also referred to as your network home directory. It’s recommended that you save your documents to
this drive because the files are backed up nightly and you won’t lose any data if your computer should crash. Learn
more about your personal home directory here: http://it.med.miami.edu/x64.xml. In this example, a Grants
Application folder was created and the file was saved there, You can use other Citrix applications to access the files
on your personal network drive. For instance, if you wanted to e-mail this Grant Application, you could use Outlook
and attach the file.

                                                                                                               Page 7
14. Click Save when you’re ready to save the file.

15. If you don’t have it, you can also make note of the path of your personal home directory and map it on your Mac
for accessing the files when you’re not connected to Citrix. Your home drive would have your login name in it and
would map to a server with the name “medusers” in it. In this example, we have a user named DemoUser mapped
to a path “medusers\users1$”

                                                                                                              Page 8
    16. If you’re connected to the network with your Mac either on campus or remotely, you can map your personal
drive by going to the Finder menu and selecting “Go”. Then click on “Connect to Server”. The path would be the
one you see for your H drive but slightly revised. In this example, the path would be:
    smb://medusers.med.miami.edu/users1$/demouser

Notice how we entered “.med.miami.edu” after “medusers”. If you have questions about mapping your personal
network drive on your Mac, please contact the IT Technical Support staff. See the end of this document for contact
    information.

    17. There are many other different options provided for remote access. You can find more information on those
options by clicking on the following link: http://it.med.miami.edu/x50.xml
