Staying Healthy as a Healthcare Administrator If you are interested in working in healthcare administration, you should be sure that you are wise about the way that you keep yourself healthy. Although it is not necessary to be healthy to keep your job, you may be much more comfortable in a health care setting if you are healthy. As a healthcare administrator, you will be working with people that will be administrating health care to a variety of patients. Being healthy can help you gain respect and may also help you feel comfortable around the patients and the different health care providers. The Importance of Your Personal Health Part of being healthy is making sure that your emotional health is taken care of. As a healthcare administrator, you should understand that you will be working in a variety of high stress situations and you may be dealing with a variety of confrontation. To keep yourself emotionally healthy, it is important that you have a release. If you are stressed, upset, angry or even sad it is important that you know how to let those emotions out. Keeping everything bottled inside can be extremely detrimental to your health. Whether you need to yell into your pillow, go for a long run, or even meditate you want to make sure that you have time for you every day. Set aside a specific amount of time that will allow you to give yourself your release and deal with your emotions in a healthy manner. Finding Comfort Sometimes it can be difficult to turn to other source of comfort when you are stressed. Recognizing that you are stressed and making sure that you do not start looking for an unhealthy stress reliever can also make a difference. Some people turn to comfort food when they are stressed and other people may turn to alcohol. Whether it is consuming something or it is looking for stress relief in any other unhealthy manner you want to make sure that you recognize your stress and deal with it well. When you are at work, you want to make sure that you know how to distance yourself from stressful situations.
