               Book Donation Program
The Chamberlain Library Book Donation program enters into
its second year! Donating a book to our library is a wonderful way
to support literacy in our school and honor your child at the same
time! This program offers the opportunity for families to donate
money for books to the Chamberlain Elementary School Library in
honor of their Chamberlain student. The cost for this is $15.00
payable to the Chamberlain Elementary PTG.

   The program works like this:
  1. When the donation is received by the library, the student
will be shown a selection of new books on the
“Donation Bookcart” in the Chamberlain school library.
  2. The student will then be able to choose which of these new
books he or she would like to donate from the
     “Donation Bookcart”.
  3. A bookplate that commemorates the child or the child’s
special milestone is placed inside the book and the donation
is acknowledged in the parent newsletter. Don’t forget to
fill out the entire form and to circle which bookplate
alternative you would like placed in your donated book.
  4. This student then gets to be the first person to check
the new book out of the library.
To clarify, we will not accept birthday book donations that
are chosen and purchased by parents. The donated book must
be chosen from the Donation Bookcart that is located in our
Chamberlain School Library. There are many valid reasons for
this important restriction and I hope that it does not discourage
parents from participating.

If you would like to participate in this program, please complete
the attached form. Give or send your payment in the form of a
check to Mrs. Cambra or Mrs. Fernbach in the school library or
directly to the Chamberlain PTG. Please remember to make the
check out to the Chamberlain Elementary PTG.

The gift of a book to our school library is a gift that will
inspire children of all ages in our school to read for many years to
come. It is a meaningful, long lasting way to contribute to our
school and to honor your Chamberlain child.

Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Fernbach and Mrs. Cambra,
Chamberlain School Librarians

Thank you and Answers to Questions

A warm thank you to all Chamberlain families who have donated
books in honor of their Chamberlain student last year!
Thank you to all the Chamberlain families who have donated books to
our library in honor of their Chamberlain student in the past. We
greatly appreciate your generosity and your support of our mission to
make reading exciting for our students. The students who have had
books donated in their name will be the first to check their donated
book out of the library. The program has kicked off to great start last
year and we look forward to its growth in the coming year.

To answer questions about our Book Donation Program:
In the past, we have had some questions relating to whether the
donated books belong to the donator or to the library after the check
is sent in, so we want to clear up any confusion.

Who do the donated books belong to?
The donated books are donated and do belong to our library. They
are being sent home with your student as a library book that has
been checked out to them, and like any other library book they will
need to be returned in two weeks. The library is not selling books at
a profit, it is not a book drive, it is just a straight forward book
donation program.

Do donations need to happen during a student’s birthday month?
Donations do not need to be given during your child’s birthday month.
Regardless of when you choose to make a book donation the book
plate placed inside the book will honor your child in the way you circle
on the book plate alternatives form. The sooner you donate the
sooner new books can be added to our library and enjoyed by our
students. Donations are accepted anytime during the school year.
Our library book donation program works like this:

1. The donator turns in a completed book donation sheet and a
check for $15.00 made out the Chamberlain PTG.

2. Your honored student will then select a new book off our donation
book cart to donate to the library.

3. We use your donation money to purchase more new books to
place on the donation book cart for students to choose from.

4. As soon as the donated book is ready, we allow the honored
student to check the book out first as a small way of thanking you
and your student for your donation.
