 35. THE BLANCO FOUNDATION – Education & Nursing Scholarships
This foundation’s goal is to provide college scholarships to committed students
of high moral character, needing financial assistance and seeking a career in
Education or Nursing. For more information contact the foundation at
info@theblancofoundation.org. Deadline: February 1, 2010.

 36. THE AMERICAN LEGION
Various scholarships are awarded by this organization, including: Eagle Scout
of the Year, General Scholarship, JROTC Cadet of the Year, Junior Shooting
Sports, High School Oratorical Contest and Patriotism in Art. For details on
these scholarships and information on other programs, go to
www.floridalegion.org. Deadlines: December 1, 2009, January 1, 2010 or
March 1, 2010 depending on the scholarship.

 37. COMMUNITY FOUNDATION FOR PALM BEACH & MARTIN
 COUNTIES
Among the scholarships available this year are the Robert & Deborah Jacobson
Scholarship Fund, the James H. Davis Memorial Agriculture Scholarship, and
the Stephen Madry Peck, Jr. Memorial Scholarship for African American
Language Majors. For more information contact the Foundation at 561-659-

 38. THE UNITED STATES ACHIEVEMENT ACADEMY
 SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION
Students may be nominated based on the following Standards for Selection: 3.0
min. GPA, motivation, attitude, dependability, responsibility & leadership
qualities. See your guidance counselor if you are interested in being nominated.
Deadline: January 15, 2010.
39. ABBOTT & FENNER SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Awards of up to $1,000 are available. Students must submit an essay on the
topic that appears on the scholarship page of their website:
http://www.abbottandfenner.com/scholarships.htm. Full details are available
on their site. Deadline for admission application: June 19, 2010.

40. METRO PCS/KYOCERA COMMUNITY SCHOLARS
Applicants must be high school seniors attending high school and plan to enroll
full-time for study at an accredited 2 or 4 year college or university.
Requirements: min. cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. 83 recipients will
each receive $2,500. From those 83, 1 grand prize winner will receive $25,000.

41. FRIENDS OF 440 SCHOLARSHIP FUND, INC.
 This organization seeks to award scholarships to dependents or descendants of
 workers who were injured in the course and scope of their employment and
 who, therefore, receive benefits under the Florida Workers’ Compensation
 system, and/or dependents or descendants of those primarily engaged in the
 administration of the Florida Workers’ Compensation law. For more

42. BOCA RATON COMMUNITY HOSPITAL – Medical Staff Student
    Scholarship
Applicant s must meet the following criteria: resident of Boca Raton, min. 3.0
GPA, student must be considering a career in the health sciences. Awards are
$1,000 each, and limited to one per family per lifetime. For more information
and an application, visit: www.brch.com. Then go to the “Employment” tab,
and then click on “Scholarship” on the left hand side of the page. Deadline:
December 1, 2009.

 43. KFC COLONEL’S SCHOLARS PROGRAM
  This program is dedicated to assisting students with financial need who plan
  to pursue a bachelor’s degree at a public institution within their legal state of
  residence. Students must: graduate between 12/1/09 and 8/31/10; have a min.
  2.75 GPA; enroll in a public, in-state college or university no later than
  9/30/10; pursue a bachelor’s degree; and be a US citizen or permanent
  resident. Students complete their online application at www.kfcscholars.org.
 The online application is available from December 1, 2009 through the
 deadline of February 10, 2010.

  44. GATES MILLENNIUM SCHOLARS PROGRAM
   Scholarships are awarded to low-income African American, American
   Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic
   American students who have a cumulative, unweighted GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0
   scale. For more information or to download an application, visit
   www.gmsp.org, call 1-877-690-4677 or email contactus@gmsp.org.
   Deadline: online January 11, 2010 by 11:59pm EST; paper application
   must be postmarked on or before January 11, 2010.




Remember: ALMOST ALL colleges and universities offer their own
scholarships. Go to the individual school websites and start looking at all
of the scholarship opportunities. Some colleges suggest that you start
applying to scholarships before acceptance!
