INTRODUCING LUNA EXPERIENCE UNIQUE SDHI FUNGICIDE
Luna Experience, the latest innovation from Bayer
The new active ingredient in Luna – fluopyram – is
CropScience, goes beyond what wine grape fungicides not a carboxamide. Fluopyram shares the same SDHI
have done before. Luna’s systemic movement and mode of action with boscalid, fluxapyroxad and
low-use rates provide superior protection against penthiopyrad, but fluopyram behaves very differently.
powdery mildew, botrytis bunch rot and other problematic It is uniquely in the pyramide chemical group and
diseases to help growers produce a greater percentage of differs in shape and in molecular flexibility from other
high-quality wine grapes. SDHI fungicides. Boscalid-resistant isolates are still
BENEFITS controlled by fluopyram/Luna. Bayer CropScience
has premixed Luna with the DMI fungicide
Exceptional efficacy – Research shows powdery tebuconazole to extend the useful life of Luna in
mildew efficacy to be equal and often superior to wine grapes. Bayer CropScience recommends for
the current leading fungicides. Luna Experience resistance management that Luna Experience not be

Systemic control for the highest quality fruit and the useful life of the chemicals.
Recommended rotation option – Provides stable Biologically, Luna acts as both a contact and an
21-day protection and is the ideal Flint rotation

new shoots and leaves.
Maximizes vine health and reduction in shatter

Untreated Luna Experience Treated
Luna Experience is registered with the Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) and is approved for sale.
Bayer CropScience is establishing Maximum Residue
Levels (MRLs) in export countries. All established
MRLs are posted on the USDA Foreign Agriculture
Service Web site. As of 2012, they include U.S.,
Canada, Mexico, EU countries and CODEX countries
for wine grapes. This information will be kept current
as the final MRLs are received. For MRL updates, go

In this 2009 trial, untreated grapes succumbed to powdery mildew, while
grapes on the right were protected by Luna Experience. The current grape registration is limited to wine grapes.
